Having the Monopoly games to be able to practice transactions made the process more enjoyable. We expanded into less cash (equity) and gave the option for a bank loan, then produced financial statements. Even though they had to record while they played and had the additional assignment afterwards (financial statements), the kids still wanted to play and looked forward to when we can do it again. \r\n After playing, I gave the students a feedback form and it was overwhelmingly positive. I had 63% that said that the game did help them and gave them an opportunity to ask me or their neighbors to increase their knowledge in transactions. There were 21% that said that they were able to help there classmates gain a better understanding and the remaining 16% said that they felt comfortable with transactions prior to playing. The majority of students grew in their understanding as a direct result of having these resources. Thank you again for the investment that you made, it will continue to have returns for years to come as I teach subsequent classes and allow them the opportunity to learn using the tools you provided. \r\n Respectfully, J. Your generous donation means more than you know. \r\n\r\nWhen learning American Sign Language, we spend so much time learning signs, learning how to effectively communicate using sign language, and also how to understand what is being signed to us. It is just as important to start from the beginning, learning how the ear works and the many reasons it may not work as it should. For this reason, we cover an entire unit learning all about the human ear! We learn how it works, what role each part plays, and what can go wrong in the ear if something doesn't work properly. My students even research the most common Hearing Problems and Diseases, and get to present their findings to the class. \r\n\r\nOne thing that I'm most passionate about when it comes to teaching high school students, is doing what I can to keep them engaged and excited to learn! By giving them multiple modalities of learning, making the learning process fun when I can, I've learned that they don't get bored as quickly, and tend to remain engaged, and dare I say they even enjoy learning!\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting me, my students, and furthering the goal of generating awareness and education about the Deaf community.","fullyFundedDate":1746786030399,"projectUrl":"project/lets-learn-about-the-ear/9276138/","projectTitle":"Let's Learn About the Ear!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Clark","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-clark-asl"},{"teacherId":6516058,"projectId":8555624,"letterContent":"I am deeply grateful for your generosity and support of our classroom project here in Lindale, Texas. Your contributions have allowed me to create a welcoming and inspiring reading environment for my students, complete with a comfortable armchair, a bookcase, and an expanded collection of diverse and engaging literature. These resources are already making a difference in fostering a love of reading and encouraging my students to explore new ideas and perspectives. \r\n\r\nMy students, many of whom come from low-income households, are ambitious and eager to learn. By having access to a wide range of books that represent diverse authors and walks of life, they are not only improving their reading skills but also building empathy and understanding for others. The inviting space you helped create shows them that reading can be both enjoyable and enriching, inspiring them to dream bigger and prepare for their college journeys. \r\n\r\nThank you for empowering my students to see the world through new lenses and for helping me cultivate a culture of reading in our classroom.
