When the students saw it for the first time, they were so excited! They said they felt comfortable and proud. One student even said \"It is like a hotel!\". Our classroom before the makeover was so drab and uninspiring. Let me tell you, these kids are so inspired now. I have a student in a wheel chair and she loves to leave the wheel chair to sit on one of the couches. Before the makeover, she never got out of her wheel chair. One of our favorite things to do is group projects with hands on experiences. Now that we have the nesting tables, we are able to conduct science experiments and art projects as a whole group together. Most recently, we used the tables to work together to plant flowers. We were able to create stations at the nesting tables where they had plenty of room to prepare their pots and plant their seeds.\r\nWe have also been so thankful for the clear storage bins that help us stay organized. The students have been able to keep their activities in order as well as easily accessed. When we were designing the room, I made sure to use some of the funds for the students to pick out learning activities, so that they could be a part of the classroom transformation. They have been using them everyday! I will be sending a few pictures of the activities in use. We are very grateful and proud for what we have received. Thank you so very much!","fullyFundedDate":1770672287995,"projectUrl":"project/sonic-classroom-makeover/10071878/","projectTitle":"Sonic Classroom Makeover","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hughlett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10415305"},{"teacherId":6573859,"projectId":9697307,"letterContent":"We're integrating the donated human tissue slides into our histology module. In a recent lab session students worked in small groups to identify epithelial, connective, muscle, and nervous tissues using bright field microscopy. Each group rotated through stations where they compared stained slides, sketched cellular features, and filled a shared data sheet noting magnification, staining patterns, and distinguishing characteristics. One memorable moment: a student excitedly identified the stratified squamous epithelium in an oral mucosa slide and led a short peer-teaching mini‑presentation explaining how structure relates to function.\r\n\r\nThe reaction was a mix of awe and focused curiosity. Many students commented that seeing real human tissue made the concepts \"click\" in a way images never had — they were noticeably more attentive and asked deeper, content-driven questions about pathology and staining. A few students were initially hesitant, so we took time to discuss donor respect and lab etiquette; by the end of the session those students were engaged and contributing to the group analyses.\r\n\r\nNext, students will complete a comparative analysis lab report where they document findings from multiple slide types, propose hypotheses about observed anomalies, and relate microscopic structure to clinical function. Following the report, they'll design a brief classroom poster or digital presentation summarizing one tissue type's key features and clinical relevance, then peer-review another group's work. Finally, we'll connect observations to a short case study discussion on how histology informs diagnosis and treatment, reinforcing real‑world application.","fullyFundedDate":1758343295626,"projectUrl":"project/a-look-into-the-microscopic-wonders-of-b/9697307/","projectTitle":"A Look Into the Microscopic Wonders of Biology","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Flowers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6573859_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720481657650","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6573859"},{"teacherId":6573859,"projectId":9507979,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous gift to fund classroom supplies. Students are eager to stop by during their free time to learn a new skill, work with their hands, and chare their creations with friends. The low-tech makerspace activities have become a peaceful and welcoming space where students can unplug from their screens, express themselves, and discover the joy of making something tangible. \r\nThe cross-stitching kits have been especially popular with students who enjoy quiet, focused projects. They're learning patience and perseverance as they see their designs take shape one stitch at a time. Friendship bracelet making has encouraged collaboration and kindness. Students often make bracelets for each other, creating a culture of encouragement and creativity. The duct tape activities have been a big hit too, inspiring innovation and problem-solving as students design wallets, flowers, and other imaginative creations.\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students now have a meaningful outlet to explore new interests, practice fine motor and critical thinking skills, and experience the satisfaction of finishing something they're proud of. You've helped create a space that celebrates curiosity, craftsmanship, and community, and that impact will last far beyond this school year.","fullyFundedDate":1757626046744,"projectUrl":"project/build-create-imagine-a-makerspace-for/9604120/","projectTitle":"Build, Create, Imagine: A Makerspace for Teens","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barns","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7598789_orig.jpg?crop=2448,2448,x282,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1679610810187","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/librarian-barns"},{"teacherId":2010547,"projectId":9242772,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students now have access to a wider range of books—including graphic novels—that are transforming the way we approach reading.
