It took us a little bit of time start using the resources so we could introduce them slowly. \r\nThe children were so excited to have some new materials in class! As we have been working all year on emotional regulation, we used some of the the new materials in our calm down area to help work on those skills! The little spots of emotion have been so helpful to have our children be able to visually recognize what they are feeling. We have been able to connect these emotions to the story that came with them as well. In this area we have also been able to successfully use some water timers that have allowed children to slow down their breathing, allow them to focus on that and talk about their emotions. \r\nThe children have also loved having some new ways to retell some of their favorite and familiar stories with some story retelling pieces! These pieces have been great for not only retelling, but also as a gateway for our children to make connections to the characters and themselves. \r\nOverall, the pieces of this project have been amazing for our small children to have different ways to work on their social emotional regulation, what emotions look/feel like and even make connections between book characters and us. I am so excited to be able to use these pieces in years to come with many new 4-5 year olds!
