During this time we learn using games. Students are not only learning how to play games but they are learning to follow rules, take turns, share, work together, problem solve, use critical thinking skills, and so much more. Students at this age learn best through play and thanks to your donations my students have been given this wonderful opportunity to learn and play.\r\n\r\nThe boxes were delivered to my classroom during circle time and placed on the edge of the carpet. My students eyes went wide and the questions began- \"What is in the boxes?\" Is it for us?\" The questions were never ending. When the questions slowed I explained that yes, what is in the boxes was for them. The students took turns trying to guess what was inside before I began opening the boxes. They could not believe that these games were for them to play at school. For some of my students this was their first experience with this type of games. I explained each game and showed them how it was played. Then students were paired up and allowed to play the games as my para and I floated among the groups and giving feedback and suggestions as needed. My students were very appreciative for the games. A highlight for me was when I pulled a group to the side to play Candyland with me. They quickly caught on to the rules and were so excited that one of them actually won against the teacher. They continued this for every book that was in each box.\r\nMy students eagerly await their turn to go to the library station to get to experience the books. Students look at the pictures to tell a story, they look for words and letters that they know, and they love to read to others.
