They loved seeing the entire collection of Bad Guys, new Dog Man books, and the girls loved the more girl-centered graphic novels such as Four Eyes or Frizzy. We had great discussions on the similarities and differences between the I Survived chapter books and the I survived graphic novels as well. \r\nIt's safe to say that these new books and shelf brought a new joy to our classroom even though they arrived in the last few weeks of school. Our students were thrilled when they received the mesh envelopes. These became their \"Math Toolkits\", which they can use every time they're solving math problems. Depending on the grade level these Math Toolkits have: unifix cubes, counters, base ten blocks, coins and even blank templates.\r\n\r\nAt our school we change classrooms 3 times during the school year, so being able to store and move these toolkits have been a game changer. Plus, since we're introducing these toolkits in Kindergarten, students will be familiar with them at all grade levels. This will become an effective strategy for problem solving during math.\r\n\r\nThe 2 shelves on wheels have also been a great addition to our classes. We've been able to organize decodable readers for both 1st and Kinder. Having wheels helps when moving in between spaces. The size of these shelves is perfect for students to reach for books. We have STEM bin Fridays and they were so excited to have new stuff. A few kids built flowers and towers with the magnetic blocks. Then several kids joined in the building but used the Geo builders and created things using the manual. Other students got the Pixel art and created animals and hearts that they found in that manual. All the directions were very easy to follow. I received the storage bins and unfortunately a bins cracked, so I'm waiting on the replacement lids.
