Because of your generosity, my students have the resources they need to practice and truly understand major scales in a hands-on way. We use the materials during our daily music lessons - students are properly seated in the band room and grab their instrument folders to practice scales, identify patterns, and connect what they see in the music to what they hear when they play. One of my favorite things has been seeing the discipline that students exhibit when they come into the classroom, grab their folders, and sit up straight with their instruments ready to learn. \r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement in the classroom was incredible. Seeing their faces light up reminded me why updated and clear resources matters so much. I have kept a chart of how many students know their major scales and are getting closer to the goal; Not only to know the scales, but to build confidence, creativity, and a sense of accomplishment.\r\n\r\nAs the Spring semester rolls forward, we have been using these resources to practice for major live performances at school and as we prepare to perform at the yearly Junior Crank Fest in May. Our goal is for students to not only understand the theory behind major scales but also feel confident using them in real music. Knowing the scales in fundamental and will set them up for success in higher education. \r\n\r\nYour support is helping my students grow as young musicians, and we are truly grateful for your investment in the Macgregor Elementary Tiger Band.","fullyFundedDate":1760550182843,"projectUrl":"project/major-scales-for-major-success/9778637/","projectTitle":"Major Scales for Major Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Thomas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10293558_orig.jpg?crop=2828,2828,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759258298072","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10293558"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_15642","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":436,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":70,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.9,"schoolId":15642,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about MacGregor Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"MacGregor Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/houston-independent-school-district/macgregor-elementary-school/15642"}
