It was exciting to share this journey with them. \r\nThe students especially loved seeing how big the vegetables grew. It led to discussions on the difference between store bought produce and organic homegrown food. You gave us exactly what we needed! Dirt! Our garden grew from two garden beds to eleven! Keeping the garden beds full of nutrient rich soil so that we can plant is so important!\r\nThanks to you, we were able to fill all of our garden beds and increase our garden's yield! Not only are we growing healthy delicious food, but we are also growing cut flowers. Our garden club provides an opportunity for entrepreneurship through a local farmer's market! Students can take the flowers we grow or the seeds we produce and sell them at market. This helps work on public speaking, professionalism and interpersonal skills.\r\nThank you for generously helping us grow! Reading about solar power is one thing, but seeing it in action is another!\r\nOur students were so excited to see the sun power our fans and keep the Greenhouse cool. Because of the Donor's Choose Community, we have been able to provide a beautiful green learning space for our students. \r\nOur Greenhouse was suffering in the Houston heat and desperately needed an upgrade to keep the plants cool and healthy. \r\nThe new fans will keep the air flowing and make sure mold and mildew don't build up. \r\nThe addition of a hydroponic garden set up for our indoor growing space is incredibly exciting. Their backpack is full to bursting with all the supplies for each class.\r\nSome don't. \r\nSome come to school hungry, with an empty backpack and hand me down clothes.\r\nThose students need to learn, too. \r\nThese supplies have allowed me help all my students start school ready to go. They have pencils and paper and markers.\r\nIt takes a village to raise a child.
