It truly means the world to me that there are people willing to invest in my students and believe in what they are capable of accomplishing. \r\n\r\nAs an 18+ transition teacher, I have the privilege of working with some pretty incredible young adults. Each of my students brings something special to our classroom, and I see so much potential, determination, and resilience in every single one of them. I believe wholeheartedly that when given the right opportunities, tools, and support, they are capable of accomplishing so much more than people may realize.\r\n \r\nThanks to your generosity, we received a Cricut machine, heat press, and Cricut startup materials that are helping us expand our student-run vocational business. These materials give my students the opportunity to explore the process of creating personalized products, from designing and preparing materials to learning how to use equipment, follow step-by-step directions, and produce items for our school community. What might seem like a simple project to someone else is an opportunity for my students to practice communication, fine motor skills, problem-solving, teamwork, and the responsibility that comes with completing a job.\r\n \r\nOne of the things I love most about teaching this population is seeing the pride my students take in their work. Whether it's learning a new task, becoming a little more independent, or realizing they can do something they once needed help with, those moments are what make this work so meaningful to me. My hope is that through experiences like these, my students begin to recognize the same potential in themselves that I see in them every day. \r\n\r\nI want my classroom to be a place where my students are not defined by their disabilities but celebrated for their abilities. A place where they can learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences, make mistakes, try again, discover their strengths, and develop skills that will help them navigate life beyond the classroom.
