From the moment the materials arrived, my students were eager to explore them. Their faces lit up when they saw the bean bags set up for movement and rhythm activities, and they immediately understood that these new tools were meant just for them. The storage bins have helped students take more responsibility for our instruments, and the Clorox wipes allow us to safely clean and share materials so we can focus on making music together.\r\n\r\n One of the most exciting moments was introducing the recorders to my 4th graders. For many of them, this is their very first experience learning a real instrument, and they are beyond excited to get started on their recorders this semester. Students carefully unpacked them, practiced holding them correctly, and couldn't wait to play their first notes. The laminator has already been put to use creating colorful, reusable visuals that support note reading, rhythm practice, and classroom routines, making lessons more engaging and interactive.\r\n\r\n Thanks to this project, our next steps include beginning structured recorder lessons, ensemble playing, and rhythm games that combine movement and music using the bean bags. Students are building confidence, collaboration skills, and a deeper love for music each day. Your support has given them the tools they need to learn, create, and express themselves in meaningful ways, and it has made a lasting impact on our classroom. Thank you for helping make music such a joyful and memorable part of their school experience. 🎶","fullyFundedDate":1760693801990,"projectUrl":"project/strike-up-the-band-a-fresh-start-for-mu/9576814/","projectTitle":"Strike Up the Band: A Fresh Start for Music Class!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10169768"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_17277","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":538,"numTeachers":41,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":10,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":71,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":38.0,"schoolId":17277,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Carver Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Carver Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/greenville-independent-school-district/carver-elementary-school/17277"}
