Instead of copying notes, listening to a lesson, completing an assignment, and moving on to the next topic, my students are becoming more curious, engaged, and willing to explore and ask questions. The resources provided through this project have given my students opportunities to participate in hands-on projects, develop their own ideas, ask questions, and make meaningful connections between what they learn in science and the world around them.\r\n\r\nOne of the changes has been the increase in student engagement. My students enjoy working on projects, especially when they have some choice in what they create and how they demonstrate their learning. I have seen them become excited about planning, designing, discussing, creating, and improving their projects. They are no longer asking only, \"What do I need to do to finish this?\" Instead, I hear questions such as, \"How does this work?\" \"Why does this happen?\" \"What would happen if we changed this?\" and \"Could we try it another way?\" These questions may seem simple, but they represent an important change in the way my students think and learn.\r\n\r\nThe resources have also strengthened inquiry-based learning in my classroom. Through these projects, students are learning that it is okay not to know the answer immediately. In fact, not knowing can be the beginning of an important scientific question. Students are becoming more comfortable asking \"how,\" \"when,\" and \"why\" questions rather than limiting themselves to questions with one word answers. These questions have encouraged students to listen to one another, share ideas, and respectfully discuss different explanations.\r\n\r\nI have also noticed that students who are sometimes quiet during traditional lessons are more willing to participate when they are working on a project or investigating something that interests them. The project resources have helped me create a classroom environment where creativity and curiosity are valued. Students have different strengths and ways of learning. Some enjoy designing and building, while others prefer drawing, researching, creating, or presenting. Projects allow students to use these strengths while still meeting important learning goals. This has helped me reach students who may not always feel successful with worksheets or lecture based work.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project has made learning active, meaningful, and student-centered. I can see the growth in my students' curiosity, creativity, confidence, conversations, and willingness to investigate. They are beginning to think like scientists by asking questions, exploring possibilities, and learning from their experiences.\r\n\r\nI sincerely thank and appreciate you for making this project possible. Your support has provided my students with opportunities to explore, create, question, and discover the joy of learning. Thank you for investing in my students and helping me create a classroom where curiosity and creativity can thrive. Many of our science materials require proper storage to prevent spoilage, and having reliable refrigeration ensures that experiments run smoothly and safely. This supports learning experiences that spark curiosity and deepen understanding. Also, the first aid box ensures that minor classroom incidents can be addressed promptly and safely. The duct tape is useful in securing class posters and student projects, keeping our classroom organized, vibrant, and welcoming. Your support has made a meaningful impact in our science and biology classroom. With these resources, I've been able to bring in a variety of creative, high-quality lessons and activities from talented educators. This has given my students new ways to explore science concepts and has enriched our classroom experience with more engaging and differentiated learning opportunities. The technology I've been able to access is helping my students learn in more interactive ways. Many of the resources include simulations, visual models, and interactive notebooks that make abstract science concepts more concrete and understandable. This allows students to visualize what they are learning, collaborate on shared projects, making science come alive beyond the textbook. What excites my students most about these new products is the variety and creativity in how they learn. They love switching between digital labs, group projects, and interactive lessons that encourage exploration and critical thinking. Several students who were once hesitant to participate have now found new confidence and curiosity. For instance, a few of my quieter students have especially warmed to the digital simulations and self-paced activities, which allow them to learn at their own rhythm while still being challenged. It's been wonderful to see them light up with pride when they master a difficult concept or contribute new ideas to class discussions. Your contribution continues to support rigorous, engaging, and inclusive learning in my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1754447358576,"projectUrl":"project/voices-of-experience-exploring-diverse/9505636/","projectTitle":"Voices of Experience: Exploring Diverse Strategies by Experienced Educators","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Catherine Thomas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6429998_orig.jpg?crop=686,687,x0,y77&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1572906489215","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6429998"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_16661","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":769,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":27,"percentWhite":20,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":46,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"17.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":74.6,"schoolId":16661,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Central Media Arts Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Central Media Arts Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/galveston-independent-school-district/central-middle-school/16661"}
