Board games positively impact children by fostering essential cognitive, social, and emotional skills, including turn-taking, patience, strategic thinking, and emotional regulation. These skills help them with math strategies as they determine what they are solving for. Today, students rely so much on technology that having the oppertunity to play with something else other than a device is important since they will need to do more group and partner work as they move from the elementary level. These board games help children about cooperation, patience, and turn-taking. Because of your generosity, my students have been able to experience art in a way that simply wouldn't have been possible otherwise.\r\nI run this after-school art time on a volunteer basis, so having access to quality materials like watercolor paper, markers, marker paper, and yarn has truly transformed what we can do. Out of everything, the watercolor paper and markers have been the biggest hit. Students immediately gravitated toward them, excited to try techniques they had never experienced before. There's something powerful about watching a child realize they can blend colors, layer designs, and create something they are genuinely proud of.\r\nThese materials didn't just give them \"something to do\"—they gave them a way to express themselves. Many of my students come in after a long school day, and this space has become a place where they can relax, create, and feel successful. I've seen students who are usually quiet open up and share their ideas, and others take creative risks they might not have taken before.\r\nThe yarn and collage materials have also encouraged collaboration and imagination. Students worked together, shared ideas, and even helped each other problem-solve when their designs didn't go as planned. It's been amazing to watch their confidence grow—not just in art, but in themselves.\r\nHere are a few things my students wanted to share:\r\n\"I like the markers because I can make my art really bright.\"\r\n\"The watercolor paper makes my art look real.\"\r\n\"This is my favorite part of the day.\"\r\n\"I didn't know I could draw like this before.\"\r\nYour support has helped create a space where creativity is valued and where students can explore, experiment, and shine. For many of them, this is their only opportunity to engage in hands-on art outside of the regular school day, and it truly makes a difference.\r\nThank you again for believing in my students and helping bring their ideas to life.\r\n\r\n\r\nElizabeth Bowie\r\nArt Teacher\r\nSunrise McMillan Elementary School","fullyFundedDate":1766508425412,"projectUrl":"project/creative-explorations-igniting-imaginat/9898972/","projectTitle":"Creative Explorations: Igniting Imagination Through After-School Art Adventures","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bowie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10352159_orig.jpg?crop=1170,1170,x0,y159&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763321228113","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10352159"},{"teacherId":6860661,"projectId":9925974,"letterContent":",\r\nThank you so much for the delicious snacks you provided for our class!
