Throughout the school year, my students have worked incredibly hard academically, socially, and emotionally, and this celebration gave them an opportunity to feel proud of their accomplishments. Items like the cups with lids, silly straws, powdered drink mix, chalk, bubbles, and sunglasses helped create a fun and welcoming environment where students could celebrate together, build friendships, and make positive memories connected to school.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students has been the playful and festive atmosphere these supplies created. The silly straws and sunglasses added so much excitement and laughter to the celebration, while the bubbles and chalk encouraged creativity, movement, and teamwork outdoors. Even simple items became special to my students because they made the day feel unique and rewarding. Many students talked for days about how excited they were for the party activities and how special it made them feel.\r\n\r\nSome of my students who are usually shy or reserved especially enjoyed the interactive activities during the celebration. The bubbles, chalk, and shared games encouraged students to socialize, work together, and simply enjoy being kids. For many of my students, school is one of the places where they feel the most supported and encouraged, so having a joyful celebration meant a great deal to them. This project helped create a positive ending to our school year and reminded my students that their hard work and growth were worth celebrating.","fullyFundedDate":1778038746493,"projectUrl":"project/end-of-year-send-off/10208076/","projectTitle":"End of Year Send Off","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Elizondo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3675614_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1468456863254","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/yesenia-elizondo"},{"teacherId":3675614,"projectId":10182888,"letterContent":"The glow center activities and glow-in-the-dark toys have made learning more engaging and exciting for my kindergarten students. The glowing materials helped students stay focused, motivated, and eager to participate while reinforcing important literacy and math skills in a fun environment. Technology and special learning materials like these help young students learn through movement, visuals, and hands-on exploration, which is especially important for early learners.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students has been transforming our classroom into a glowing learning space. The glow-in-the-dark activities instantly captured their attention and made learning feel like an adventure. Students were especially excited to use flashlights to complete activities, search for answers, and practice skills in a new and memorable way. The excitement helped increase participation and encouraged even hesitant learners to join in with confidence.\r\n\r\nSeveral of my students who sometimes struggle to stay engaged during traditional lessons became much more enthusiastic during our glow center activities. Some of my quieter students opened up and participated more actively because the environment felt fun and low-pressure. My bilingual learners especially benefited from the visual and interactive components, which helped strengthen understanding and build confidence while practicing important academic skills. One of our favorite activities is a \"Sound Detective\" game, where students use the letter cards to identify beginning sounds and then match them to picture cards. For example, during a recent lesson, students worked together to sort picture cards by their initial sounds, placing them under the correct letter. I watched as one student confidently picked up a picture of a \"sun,\" said the /s/ sound out loud, and proudly matched it to the letter \"S.\" Moments like this show their growing confidence and understanding of phonics skills.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials were first introduced, the students were immediately excited and curious. They were eager to touch, explore, and talk about the pictures, and many began making connections right away. I heard students calling out sounds, naming objects, and even helping each other find matches. The bright visuals and hands-on nature of the activities captured their attention and made learning feel like play. One of my favorite moments was during a small group lesson where students used the paddle boards to tap out sounds in simple CVC words. As they pushed a token into each Elkonin box, they could physically feel and see how words are broken into individual sounds. It really clicked for several students who had been struggling—suddenly, they were segmenting and blending with confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials were first introduced, the students were immediately excited. The paddle boards felt special and hands-on, which made them eager to participate. Even my more reluctant learners leaned in and wanted to try. There's something about having a tangible tool that made the learning feel more like a game than a task.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're building on this foundation by incorporating the paddle boards into more advanced word work. Students are beginning to work with digraphs and blends, and we're also transitioning from tapping sounds to writing the letters that match each sound in the boxes. Eventually, we'll connect this skill to reading simple sentences and writing their own. These resources have truly helped create a more engaging and supportive environment for early literacy growth.","fullyFundedDate":1753309624448,"projectUrl":"project/word-mapping-is-fun/9475200/","projectTitle":"Word Mapping Is Fun","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ruvalcaba Puga","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7745541_orig.jpg?crop=445,445,x33,y378&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1637383314976","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7745541"},{"teacherId":7823237,"projectId":9103655,"letterContent":"We are so excited to be using the new reading resources in our kindergarten classroom! The lowercase alphabet Chips and magnetic wands added a fun, hands on element, making learning letters and sounds more interactive and engaging. It was amazing to see them physically connect sounds to letters, which really strengthened their phonemic awareness and early reading skills.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate! They were fascinated by the magnetic letters and wands, and many were eager to explore the Talking Mirror to hear and repeat the sounds. \r\n\r\nHaving high quality, hands on materials made learning feel fun while still focusing on important reading skills. \r\n\r\nNext, we plan to use these resources to build more independent reading skills and small group activities. The zipper pouches are used for individual math tools like counters, number cards, and ten-frames, allowing students to work independently or in small groups. Students confidently grabbed their pouches, modeled problems at their seats, and explained their thinking to a partner with pride and excitement.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. They were eager to organize their own supplies and immediately took ownership of keeping everything neat and ready to use. Our next steps include using these tools for more interactive math lessons, such as solving word problems with manipulatives and building number sense through hands Uyon practice.
