Your contribution to my classroom has made a great impact on my students. As you well know, our classrooms are full of students from different backgrounds and cultures, but we also have diversity in how our students learn. I have quite a bit of students that have IEP's. Some of my special education students have certain accommodations that they can use in the classroom. One of these accommodations is the use of speech to text. Essentially, a student is able to use a special headset that has a microphone in which they can speak into it and his/her speech is then converted to text. Not only do they use this accommodation in everyday classroom use but also during tests. Honestly, my students didn't have headphones with the built-in microphone. They would use the built-in microphone either on Word Online or Google, and the whole class would hear what they were saying/speaking into the computer. With the headphones that I received from Donors Choose, my students are now able to wear his/her headphones and use the built-in microphone in a way that is more conducive to our classroom. This has helped not only the student using the headphones, but also the rest of the class.\r\n\r\nThe carpets have created more usable space in the classroom along with student collaboration. Children are able to use the rugs in the classroom and plop themselves either with a good book or to listen to our daily lesson. My students love them!\r\n\r\nThe dry erase boards are great learning tools. We use these boards to practice our spelling words and or to do a quick comprehension checks. Kids are more willing to use dry erase boards than \"boring\" paper to do assignments.
