With a large group of 5th graders, tissues are something we use every single day for everything from runny noses and allergies to cleaning up small spills and keeping our classroom spaces clean. My students were so excited when they first saw the large supply of tissues arrive. They immediately recognized that the donation was something that would help our classroom and were eager to help organize and put the boxes away. It was a simple moment, but it reminded them that people in our community care about their learning environment and want to support them.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, my students are working on becoming more independent learners and problem-solvers. Our next steps are to continue practicing grade-level skills, working collaboratively, and applying what we learn to real-world situations. Having everyday classroom necessities like Kleenex available allows us to spend less time worrying about supplies and more time focused on learning, growing, and making our classroom a positive place for every student. Because of you, my students now have the tools they need to focus, engage, and feel supported every single day.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have been a game changer during independent work and small group time—students are able to stay focused and work at their own pace without distractions. The blackout curtains have created a calmer, more comfortable learning environment, especially during screen-based lessons and testing. Even the everyday items like dry-erase erasers, red pens, and printer ink have made a huge difference in keeping our classroom running smoothly and efficiently.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was when students first saw everything—they were so excited, especially about the headphones and snacks! It may seem small, but having access to snacks has helped students stay energized and ready to learn, which has made a noticeable difference in their focus and mood.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, we are able to move forward with even more meaningful learning experiences. Right now, students are building independence during rotations, using their headphones for listening centers and digital activities. As we continue, we're focusing on strengthening reading and math skills through small groups and personalized learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students not just supplies, but opportunities to succeed, stay engaged, and feel cared for. The pulleys allowed students to explore force in a hands on way rather than just seeing it in pictures. The globes helped my students model earth's rotation, the day and night cycle and the sun's apparent motion across the sky.\r\n\r\nThank you for making these learning opportunities possible for my students. Students are excited to work toward earning these items, which has helped reinforce classroom expectations and encouraged perseverance during challenging tasks. These small rewards have also supported social-emotional learning by giving students appropriate tools to manage stress, stay focused, and regulate their emotions during lessons and transitions.\r\n\r\nMy students and I use these resources intentionally. Fidget toys and squishies are available during independent work, small-group instruction, and testing to help students maintain focus without disrupting others. The treasure box is used as a positive reinforcement system, allowing students to earn items for demonstrating kindness, responsibility, or academic effort. Rather than being a distraction, the items have become tools that support self-regulation and a calm learning environment.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment was during a math problem-solving activity when a student who often struggles with focus was able to complete the entire task while quietly using a fidget toy. Afterward, the student proudly shared that the fidget helped them \"think better and not give up.\" Moments like this have shown me that these simple resources do more than reward behavior—they empower students to take ownership of their learning and emotional needs.","fullyFundedDate":1758203021565,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-treasures-for-bright-learners/9488739/","projectTitle":"Classroom Treasures for Bright Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Calhoun","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10053559_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752247421829","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10053559"},{"teacherId":10053559,"projectId":9488695,"letterContent":"Since receiving the hand sanitizer, it quickly became a daily part of our classroom routine. Students use it as they enter the room, before and after group activities, and following hands-on Science lessons. Having easy access to this resource has helped reinforce the importance of personal responsibility and healthy habits, allowing us to focus more fully on learning rather than interruptions for constant hand washing. One meaningful moment came during a collaborative project, when students independently reminded one another to sanitize before sharing materials—showing that they had truly embraced the routine.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the hand sanitizer, they were genuinely excited and curious. Many commented on how convenient it was to have it readily available in the classroom, and several expressed feeling safer and more comfortable working closely with their classmates. Their enthusiasm turned into ownership as they eagerly helped set up stations and made sure the sanitizer was used appropriately throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThanks to our donors' generosity, our next steps include continuing hands-on, cooperative learning activities with greater confidence and consistency. Students are currently working on a group-based lesson that requires sharing supplies and rotating through stations, and the sanitizer allows this to happen smoothly and safely. Moving forward, we will keep reinforcing healthy habits while expanding collaborative projects that build teamwork, responsibility, and focus—making our classroom a safer and more productive learning environment for everyone.","fullyFundedDate":1758202804779,"projectUrl":"project/a-germ-free-path-to-learning/9488695/","projectTitle":"A Germ-Free Path to Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Calhoun","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10053559_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752247421829","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10053559"},{"teacherId":9926471,"projectId":9472119,"letterContent":"When the new headphones arrived, my students were thrilled!
