One of the biggest ways we use them is during math fluency practice. My students use the dry erase lap boards along with the Expo markers to quickly solve problems, show their thinking, and share answers with the class. This has made math much more engaging because every student can participate at the same time instead of waiting for a turn at the board. I have also been using the copy paper constantly to print math packets, reading activities, and exit tickets that help me quickly check for understanding at the end of lessons.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were honestly overwhelmed by the generosity. They were so grateful that people they've never met cared enough to support their classroom. Many of them thanked me for taking the time to submit the project, and they were excited knowing that donors chose to invest in their learning. One of the biggest classroom wins has been the pencils! Having 500 sharpened pencils has made such a difference because we constantly need restocks. We had even started asking students to switch to colored pencils because we ran out, so having real pencils again has been a huge help.\r\n\r\nThe two tier utility cart has also been a game changer for me. I currently work in a co teaching position and move between two 5th grade classrooms because our grade level is departmentalized. I teach RLA and Social Studies with one teacher, and then move next door to teach Math and Science with another teacher when the classes switch. The cart keeps everything organized, my bottom shelf holds my RLA and Social Studies materials, the middle shelf holds Math and Science, and the top shelf is where I keep my supplies. It makes transitioning between classrooms seamless. My students even love helping me roll the cart between rooms, and when I'm not using it, they love using it as a \"second desk,\" which has become a fun classroom reward.\r\n\r\nWe also used the Rice Krispie treats to celebrate a big moment: my students recently worked incredibly hard on their state testing, and they absolutely knocked it out of the park! Everyone got a Rice Krispie Treat to celebrate their effort, and they were thrilled. The rest of the snacks like fruit snacks, fruit roll ups, and assorted treats have been added to our classroom snack pantry. These are used as small rewards or for those moments when a student quietly tells me they're hungry and need something to help them focus.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my classroom has the supplies we need to stay organized, engaged, and supported. Your generosity helps my students feel valued, motivated, and excited to learn every day. Thank you for believing in them and making our classroom a place where students can truly thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1769178072809,"projectUrl":"project/essentials-for-engaged-learners/9889004/","projectTitle":"Essentials for Engaged Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Beyl","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10347843_orig.png?crop=744,744,x127,y85&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1772668312836","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-beyl"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_15741","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":738,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":75,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":78,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.0,"schoolId":15741,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Harmony Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Harmony Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/east-central-independent-school-district/harmony-elementary-school/15741"}
