Our students were excited when we told them we were able to get more chessboards. This would not have happened without the generous donation you provided. These are special to us because, at the bottom, they have a magnet, which allows us to keep up with them. Plus, you can store all the pieces together because the board closes into a rectangle. This cuts down on lost pieces, which gives our students multiple opportunities to play. \r\nWe meet every Wednesday after school for our Chess Club, and all of our students have had at least two to four times playing on the boards. Our Kindergarten through 2nd graders are learning the basic moves of each piece, and our 3rd-5th graders are learning how to castle and other strategies. These boards will last us a lifetime and serve numerous students over the years.","fullyFundedDate":1771027249571,"projectUrl":"project/checkmate-i-think/10031107/","projectTitle":"Checkmate, I think?","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vasquez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5941321_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1689030647705","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5941321"},{"teacherId":10301696,"projectId":9793074,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. Because of you, my students now have access to eye models, 3D brain models, and full human body models that have completely transformed how we learn about the human body.\r\n\r\nWe are using these new resources as part of our body systems unit. Instead of only reading about structures in a textbook, students are now able to hold a brain in their hands, examine the parts of the eye up close, and physically trace how systems connect and work together. One especially powerful moment happened during a small-group activity when students took apart and reassembled the brain model. They were able to identify specific regions and explain their functions to one another—something that would have been very difficult without these hands-on tools.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions said it all. There were gasps, wide eyes, and lots of excited questions. Many students immediately gathered around the models, eager to explore and learn. Several shared that it was the first time anatomy truly \"made sense\" to them. The models sparked curiosity, confidence, and meaningful discussions that went far beyond what I had planned for the lesson.\r\n\r\nNext, students will be using the models to complete a project where they analyze how different body systems interact and present their findings to the class. These resources will continue to support future lessons, review activities, and hands-on assessments throughout the year. Your generosity has given my students an experience that feels real, engaging, and inspiring—and one they will remember.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving us a peek into what learning can look like when students have the right tools. Your support is making a lasting impact in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1762200500484,"projectUrl":"project/our-amazing-human-body/9793074/","projectTitle":"Our Amazing Human Body!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pineda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10301696_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x1008,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759689599740","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10301696"},{"teacherId":9873091,"projectId":9346463,"letterContent":"This project has greatly enhanced student engagement and learning in my classroom. The dry erase markers and individual whiteboards allow every student to participate in quick-response activities, making lessons more interactive and helping me assess understanding in real time. The crayons provide opportunities for students to express their creativity, which supports fine motor development and encourages them to take pride in their work. The pencils are used daily for a variety of tasks, including our morning writing routine, where students enter the classroom, retrieve their writing folders and pencils, and immediately begin practicing their writing skills. Altogether, these materials have created a more hands-on, creative, and structured learning environment that supports student growth across multiple subjects.","fullyFundedDate":1755717232995,"projectUrl":"project/were-write-on-time/9346463/","projectTitle":"We're \"Write\" On Time!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lynch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9873091_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742775950957","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9873091"},{"teacherId":9727239,"projectId":8735289,"letterContent":"Our classroom set of headphones is helping my students stay focused and fully engage with digital learning tools used throughout the day. Students are able to clearly hear instructions, audio supports, and feedback from programs in reading, math, and other content areas without outside distractions. This allows them to work at their own pace, revisit material as needed, and build stronger comprehension skills. The headphones also support differentiated instruction by giving each student access to individualized learning experiences that meet their specific needs.\r\n\r\nStudents are most excited about having their own set of headphones to use during independent and technology-based activities. They enjoy being able to immerse themselves in lessons, games, and videos without interruptions from surrounding noise. The sense of ownership and independence that comes with using their own headphones increases their motivation and engagement. Many students view it as a special privilege, which encourages them to stay on task and take better care of classroom materials.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially benefited from and connected with this technology. English language learners and students who need additional academic support are more confident because they can clearly hear directions and repeat information as needed. Students who are easily distracted are also more focused when using headphones, as it minimizes background noise and helps them concentrate. Additionally, some quieter or more hesitant learners participate more actively in digital activities because they feel more comfortable working independently with the support of audio guidance.","fullyFundedDate":1727962107627,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-and-beyond/8735289/","projectTitle":"Headphones and Beyond","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Creighton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9727239"},{"teacherId":5941321,"projectId":9541753,"letterContent":"Thank you for funding our classroom project. Our students were excited, knowing that they could organize their binders for learning. We were able to maximize student learning because our binders were organized with a tab divider to separate Reading and Math. They knew exactly where to go when they needed to locate their anchor charts, supplemental aids, and the materials for the current lesson. Furthermore, we used the learning games to enhance their math and reading skills. \r\nWe used Velcro in creating daily visual schedules. This helped our students know which content was coming next in their learning (e.g., math, reading, science, etc.). Additionally, the student could move their visual card to the other side, indicating that they have completed the assignment/task. Our next steps are to continue using the binders and visuals until the end of the school year. I organized the resources into small-group stations, allowing students to rotate between phonics games, number sense activities, and storytelling prompts. This structure made it possible to provide differentiated instruction, meeting students at their individual learning levels while still engaging in the entire class in hands-on, meaningful activities. \r\n In literacy, the phonics materials helped reinforce letter recognition, sound blending, and sight word fluency. Students who previously struggled with decoding were more confident participating in reading activities. In math, the number sense materials allowed students to grasp concepts like counting, and simple operations in a fun way. T\r\n One of the most rewarding parts of the project was seeing how engaged and excited the students were. Learning became something they looked forward to each day. Students who were previously hesitant began volunteering to participate in whole group activities.","fullyFundedDate":1742923167239,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-kindergarten-minds-with-essenti/9204047/","projectTitle":"Engaging Kindergarten Minds with Essential Learning Resources","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lynch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9873091_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742775950957","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9873091"},{"teacherId":9083415,"projectId":8543224,"letterContent":"Your generous donations made a group of well deserved students very happy.
