Because of your generosity, our 5th-grade scientists now have a safe, organized, and accessible place for the materials that make learning come alive. The new tall, lockable, mobile cabinets have completely transformed how our classroom functions. Instead of losing valuable learning time walking to a shared storage closet or searching for supplies, students can now transition smoothly from reading, discussion, and note-taking straight into hands-on investigations.\r\n\r\nThis change has had a powerful impact on our students. They are more independent, more responsible, and more excited to engage in science because everything they need is right at their fingertips. They take pride in caring for their materials and in being trusted to use real tools for real learning. Our classroom feels calmer, safer, and more focused, and that creates the perfect environment for curiosity to grow.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped about 100 students experience science the way it should be: active, organized, and full of discovery. From experiments on forces and energy to investigations about ecosystems and Earth's systems, every lesson now runs more smoothly because of you. We are so grateful for your kindness and belief in our students. You didn't just provide storage, you gave our classroom the structure it needed to thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1762209685283,"projectUrl":"project/safe-smart-storage-for-our-young-scient/9793518/","projectTitle":"Safe, Smart Storage for Our Young Scientists","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McCartney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10301919_orig.jpg?crop=1440,1440,x0,y777&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759706567955","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mclab"},{"teacherId":9999236,"projectId":9615516,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support toward placing a class set of The Wingfeather Saga into the hands of my students. Your support has truly transformed our learning environment.\r\n\r\nWhen the microscopes first arrived, my students could hardly contain their excitement. Many of them had never looked through a microscope before, and the moment they saw everyday objects magnified up close—like leaves, salt crystals, and even their own hair—they were amazed. One student shouted, \"It's like a whole new world!\" and the room instantly filled with curiosity and wonder.\r\n\r\nWe are now using the microscopes during our unit on the properties of matter and life science. Recently, we completed an investigation comparing plant and animal cells. Students worked in groups to carefully prepare slides and record their observations, which helped them build not only science skills but also teamwork and communication. The microscopes made the abstract idea of \"cells\" real and visible, allowing students to connect what they read in textbooks to what they could actually see with their own eyes.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building on this excitement by using the microscopes in our upcoming unit on ecosystems. Students will be examining pond water samples to identify microscopic organisms and connect them to food webs and energy flow in nature. Having access to this equipment means my students can be true scientists—asking questions, making discoveries, and developing a deeper love of learning.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has sparked curiosity, hands-on discovery, and confidence in my students. These resources have had a profound impact on our students, turning the library into a vibrant hub of creativity, problem-solving, and innovation.\r\nBefore we had the Makerspace, students often viewed the library primarily as a place to read or check out books. While reading will always remain at the heart of what we do, the addition of Makerspace tools has transformed the library into a space where students can create, explore, and learn by doing.\r\nHere are just a few of the ways the new items have made a difference:\r\n•\tHands-on learning: Students now have opportunities to design, build, and experiment with real tools and materials, connecting classroom lessons to practical projects.\r\n•\tCollaboration & teamwork: The Makerspace encourages students to work together, share ideas, and problem-solve as a group—skills they will carry into their future education and careers.\r\n•\tConfidence & creativity: Many students who were hesitant to engage in traditional library activities have found their place here, gaining confidence as they bring their ideas to life.\r\n•\tCross-curricular impact: Teachers have integrated Makerspace projects into science, math, art, and literacy lessons, enriching learning across subject areas.\r\nOne of the most inspiring moments came when a group of students used the Makerspace supplies to design a prototype for a community improvement project. They proudly presented their work to their peers and teachers, showing not only their creativity but also their belief that their ideas could make a real difference.\r\nThanks to your support, our library is no longer just a place to consume information—it is a place to create, innovate, and imagine. The impact of these Makerspace items will continue to ripple out, inspiring future leaders, creators, and problem-solvers.","fullyFundedDate":1746753516791,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-is-hands-down-the-best-learning/9318329/","projectTitle":"Hands-on Is Hands-down the best learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Merrill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10013338"},{"teacherId":5078719,"projectId":9283920,"letterContent":"We are so thankful for your generosity in providing our class with a full set of The Chocolate Touch!
