I was surprised to see that many of them had no experience with a camera other than their smartphone camera! Students read through all the instructions, assembled the cameras (batteries and memory cards), and had fun practicing how to zoom, change lenses, save, download, and delete photos and videos in just one class period. They were so excited that by the end of the day, teachers and students from other classes were stopping by to ask about our cameras. They are very proud of their new classroom tools. \r\n\r\nMy students were eager to use their cameras to help complete their labs and projects. Taking photos of mock crime scenes in Forensic Science is a required part of the course, so it is probably the most important reason we needed cameras. We also use the cameras to document labs, such as dissections and chromatography, and for projects like creating water filters and bridges, making video journals and digital plant collections, and creating videos for presentations. They ask almost daily if they can use their digital cameras! \r\n\r\nPersonally, I have enjoyed seeing students gain a love of photography in a new way. Digital cameras have a learning curve different than a smartphone camera. They're learning about light, focus, distance, and perspective. They're also learning to be more intentional about curating their photos and managing their memory cards. Many of these students have expressed a new interest in photography as a potential career someday! \r\nA whole new world has opened up for my students, and I can not thank you enough for your generous donation that has touched them in ways that I never expected.","fullyFundedDate":1764792707246,"projectUrl":"project/snapshots-of-evidence/9688885/","projectTitle":"Snapshots of Evidence","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stroup","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2030880_orig.jpg?crop=520,520,x16,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757511850932","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jennifer-stroup"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9695","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":296,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":57,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":60,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":35,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":81.8,"schoolId":9695,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Blue Ridge High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Blue Ridge High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/blue-ridge-independent-school-district/blue-ridge-high-school/9695"}
