It really does make such a difference in their learning and their social emotional skills as well. I encourage all of my families to send their child with a snack each day - but by the time our snack rolls around at 1:30 several of them do not have a snack - some of them eat them for breakfast or even with their lunch. So I know they need them!\r\n\r\nWhen snack comes and their faces look sad knowing there is nothing in their backpack - your donations make a huge difference. I am able to provide them a snack each day which keeps their learning on track! Plus they know the donations came from someone outside our classroom family who also cares about them! If a student is late - they are sent to the classroom with a gallon sized baggie of breakfast to eat in the classroom. If you know first graders - they have FOMO. When they came to the classroom - they were hesitant to eat because they didn't want to miss out on any of our activities.\r\n\r\nNow I have a breakfast area - thanks to your donations to this project! My students who come with breakfast now know to go to pick up a breakfast tray and that paper towels and straws are there when needed! They feel more \"included\" than an afterthought. I attached some pictures showing how they keep their supply boxes on their tables with them so that when they are doing their daily work - the boxes are right there so they can get the supplies they need without waiting for me to give it to them!\r\n\r\nThey loved that all of them had a supply box and not just the students who brought one from home. These resources have opened up endless opportunities for creativity and hands-on learning. One of the most memorable moments so far was during a rainy-day recess, when students worked together to build a mini city complete with bridges, towers, and roads. They experimented with different shapes, tested what would stand or fall, and proudly explained their ideas to one another. It was incredible to see how naturally they used problem-solving and teamwork when given the chance to create freely.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the STEM kits, the room filled instantly with excitement. They were eager to open every box, touch every piece, and begin building right away. Many of them started imagining projects before we even finished explaining how the materials worked. Their eyes widened, they whispered ideas to their friends, and some even cheered. Ever since that day, their enthusiasm has not faded. Every time they build something new, they rush over to show me their creations with huge smiles on their faces.\r\n\r\nThese materials will continue to support their curiosity and creativity, both during structured STEM lessons and during their free-choice recess time. Thanks to your generosity, my first graders now have meaningful learning opportunities that spark imagination, build confidence, and encourage them to proudly share their ideas.
