My students have been eager to dive into these books since the beginning of the semester. \r\n\r\nWhat I love most about books, especially the ones I have requested, are the experiences that students get to have while reading them. Not only do these books ignite intrigue and excitement, but they also help students put context to skills needed in and out of the classroom. I am able to help my students not only improve their reading skills but also build stamina and comprehension. \r\n\r\nIn my classroom, I have a designated independent reading time for students to choose a book from the classroom library and complete reading-response prompts in their journals after the allotted time. I have had a few students who have really been drawn to the graphic novels and have completed one since the books arrived. My plan, once state testing is over, is to give my students an opportunity to vote on which book to end the school year with to complete a novel study. \r\n\r\nI can't express how appreciative I am that this project was fully funded. It exceeded my expectations and timeline. My students are grateful as well, and that is a feeling that I covet above all else. Thank you for being a vital part of my students' success.","fullyFundedDate":1767234099619,"projectUrl":"project/voices-that-look-like-us/9906576/","projectTitle":"Voices That Look Like Us!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Adams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10354686_orig.jpg?crop=438,438,x6,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768052935215","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10354686"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_134269","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":null,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":25,"percentWhite":15,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":49,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":false,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":134269,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Joey Rodriguez Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Joey Rodriguez Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/arlington-independent-school-district/joey-rodriguez-junior-high-school/134269"}
