They immediately gravitated toward the rug and floor pillows, eager to test them out. At first, they weren't sure what to make of the lap desks, but once I explained how they could use them, they quickly became a favorite tool for independent work. The quieter students in my class have particularly enjoyed the chairs in the back of the room, giving them a comfortable space to focus while still being part of the learning environment. These seating choices have empowered my students to take ownership of their learning by selecting a space that best suits their needs.\r\n\r\nOne of the most immersive experiences we've had so far is what my students now call \"Space Day.\" At least once a week, when we explore online planetariums or conduct observations, I turn off the overhead lights and switch on decorative lights and a galaxy ceiling projector. With the flexible seating in place, students can spread out, collaborate, and engage deeply with the material in a setting that truly feels like outer space. They have been so captivated by this experience that they now ask if every day can be a Space Day! Currently, we are studying the structure of the Milky Way, and next week, we will dive into classifying galaxies. Thanks to this project, my students are not only learning about space—they are experiencing it in a way that makes their learning more engaging, interactive, and memorable.","fullyFundedDate":1731527930502,"projectUrl":"project/the-right-space-to-study-space/8714781/","projectTitle":"The Right \"Space\" to Study Space!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bertrand","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9496703_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y772&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1711141785050","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9496703"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_15409","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1902,"numTeachers":137,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":10,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":10,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":58,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":70.2,"schoolId":15409,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Palo Duro High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Palo Duro High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/amarillo-independent-school-district/palo-duro-high-school/15409"}
