Your support has made an immediate, transformative impact on our daily routines, emotional growth, and learning environment.\r\n\r\nHere is a look at how your gifts are changing our classroom every single day:\r\nHow are you and your students using the new resources? Share a specific classroom project or moment.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, emotional regulation and kindness are our absolute top priorities before we can even dive into academics. Without a formal social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum, these new books are serving as our foundational guide to teaching empathy, self-awareness, and emotional management. Many of my boys struggle with daily bickering, but these stories give us a shared language to talk about big feelings like anger and sadness. We recently had a moment during our morning meeting where two students were upset with each other over a shared toy. Instead of a meltdown, we sat together on our new sensory stools—which allow my active movers to channel their physical energy appropriately—and read a story about handling frustration. Holding sensory regulation items while sitting on the stools gave them the physical grounding they needed to listen, breathe, and ultimately express their feelings calmly. The alternative seating has significantly increased their stamina to remain seated and engaged during group lessons rather than standing up or wandering.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\n\r\nWhen the giant brown shipping boxes arrived at our classroom door, the energy in the room was purely magical. My students immediately gathered around with wide eyes and huge smiles, eager to know what was inside. They constantly ask who sent them these gifts, and I always answer with the truth: \"Somebody out there believes in you, knows you are going to change the world, and wanted to be a big part of the very beginning of your journey.\" Seeing their eyes light up when they realized that people they have never met care so deeply about their success was priceless. Unboxing the new sensory tools, testing out the flexible stools, and holding the colorful SEL books gave them a profound sense of pride and feeling valued.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\n\r\nNow that these core regulation tools are in place, our next step is launching a student-led \"Kindness & Emotion Toolkit\" project. Using our new SEL books as anchor texts, we are creating a classroom visual emotion station. Students will learn to pair specific sensory items and seating choices with how their body feels when they are experiencing different emotions—for example, choosing a sensory stool and a calming fidget when they recognize early signs of frustration. As their ability to sit, focus, and self-regulate continues to grow, we are gradually increasing their instructional focus time from 5-minute increments to full 15-to-20-minute small-group academic lessons.\r\nYour generosity did not just provide physical supplies—it gave my students comfort, dignity, and the confidence to know that they belong and matter.
