As soon as the light table was turned on and the sensory bins were set up, students gathered eagerly, exploring textures, colors, and shapes with curiosity and wonder. One memorable moment was during a Three Little Pigs activity, where students used the translucent blocks and dough tools to build houses while retelling the story. They collaborated, tested their designs, and proudly shared whether their structures could \"withstand the wolf,\" blending literacy with hands-on STEM learning in a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nWe now use these resources daily in small groups and learning centers. The sensory table has become a hub for early science exploration, while the magnetic wands and sorting materials help build fine motor skills and early math concepts. The science viewers have sparked rich conversations about animals and habitats, and students are asking more questions than ever before. These materials have especially supported our hands-on learners, giving them new ways to engage, create, and express their understanding.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to expand these experiences by integrating more storytelling, problem-solving challenges, and inquiry-based lessons into our OWL lab time. Students will continue building connections between literacy and science through themed activities, exploring new stories, and designing their own projects. Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has become a place where curiosity leads the way, and every child has the opportunity to learn through discovery.","fullyFundedDate":1769177484441,"projectUrl":"project/stem-the-interdisciplinary-approach-in/9775529/","projectTitle":"STEM: the Interdisciplinary Approach in Early Years","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Abrego","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2570555_orig.jpg?crop=2498,2498,x0,y607&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769634014493","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-maggieabrego"},{"teacherId":10268819,"projectId":9731694,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our project. This is the first year that students on my campus are learning about programming and coding, and the experience has been incredibly exciting for them. They look forward to coming to the library to work with the Sphero Indi Cars, and it has quickly become one of their favorite learning activities.\r\n\r\nThrough these experiences, students have learned how to collaborate and work together to accomplish a shared goal. While using the Sphero Indi Cars, they have practiced important skills such as color identification, sequencing, decomposing problems into smaller steps, pattern recognition, understanding cause and effect, and problem solving. When they first began using the Sphero Indi Cars, the process was a bit challenging. They had to use critical thinking skills to determine the correct patterns and paths needed to complete each task. Over time, however, they have gained confidence and now understand how the system works. Many students are already expressing interest in taking the next step by learning to code using block-based programming.\r\n\r\nThe items we received will continue to benefit our students for many years to come. They will support hands-on learning opportunities and help us introduce young learners to important S.T.E.M. concepts in a fun, engaging, and meaningful way. We are truly grateful for your support in helping our students explore technology, build problem-solving skills, and develop a love for learning.","fullyFundedDate":1765835791485,"projectUrl":"project/bowling-with-robots/9731694/","projectTitle":"Bowling With Robots","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cooper","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10268819_orig.jpg?crop=999,999,x1442,y2741&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758292577078","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-cooperils"},{"teacherId":2570555,"projectId":9925896,"letterContent":"Dear Donors,\r\n\r\nThank you for your generous support of our DonorsChoose project and for investing in our students' literacy development. Your donation has transformed our OWL Lab literacy space into a vibrant, language-rich environment that reflects our students' cultures and real-life experiences. The neighborhood figures, wooden dollhouse, and ice cream shop dramatic play set have inspired meaningful storytelling, conversation, and imaginative play. Through these hands-on materials, students are expanding their vocabulary, practicing narrative skills, and building confidence in expressing their ideas. Collaboration and social communication have flourished as students work together to solve problems and create stories during dramatic play. These experiences are strengthening essential early literacy skills such as oral language, comprehension, and connection to early reading and writing. Students who once needed extra encouragement are now eager to participate and share their voices.
