These books are going to help my students so much. They're already excited that we have class sets for our novel studies we plan to do later this school year. One of the biggest ways these class sets helps is that my students can actually follow along and take turns reading out loud. That helps them develop confidence in their reading as they are also improving fluency. Having the books to continuously refer to will also allow them to check back for comprehension.\r\n\r\nAnother skill we will be developing more is annotation. While I don't want my students writing in their books, we will be using a lot of sticky notes to annotate and mark important information down while also keeping that spot in the books. This helps them remember where that information is and helps them improve their note taking. Annotations also improve comprehension skills!\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, usually reading is a group effort with me reading and modeling to my students how to think aloud. They are usually listening while completing a worksheet that allows them to jot down ideas and information from the text we're reading. I'm hoping for more student involvement with the class sets. They had a great time collaborating with each other while discussing their novels with their classmates and then creating various projects to demonstrate their knowledge of their book. \r\nIf this group of kiddos was any indication, my future classes are going to LOVE reading their chosen novels. The light boxes have completely changed the way students approach their work. They are able to transfer drawings more accurately, refine compositions, layer ideas, and correct mistakes without starting over. This has built confidence, especially for students who get discouraged when something doesn't look \"right\" the first time.\r\n\r\nWhen the light boxes arrived, students were immediately excited. They couldn't wait to try them. I heard so many \"This makes it so much easier!\" comments as they realized they could focus more on creativity and less on frustration. Even students who usually hesitate to take risks were more willing to experiment because they had a safety net.\r\n\r\nThe micron pens have also made a huge difference. Students love using them for outlining and final details. Their line work looks more professional, and they take real pride in their finished pieces. It's been incredible to watch their craftsmanship improve and to see them slow down and care about the quality of their work.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using the light boxes for daily transfers, layering techniques, mixed media projects, and developing more complex compositions. These tools are not just a one-time addition — they are now part of our regular creative process.
