The biggest and most utilized, impactful item is the classroom rug. The classroom rug is utilized to build a positive classroom climate among students and as a gathering area for students during read alouds and group work. \r\n Students gather on the rug during various stem opportunities and during indoor recess. The rug is comfortable, so most students flock to the area during these times. This encourages the students to build relationships with peers that they do not get to interact with during regular instruction cooperate learning.\r\n During read alouds, students enjoy being able to sit on the classroom rug because it breaks up the monotony of sitting in the same seat most of the day. It also allows students to gather closer to me during the read. This helps the students build a better understanding of fluent reading because I model how to read text fluently.
