Students work with raw and ready-to-eat foods, shared equipment, countertops, utensils, and appliances daily, making proper cleaning and sanitizing essential. Having reliable cleaning supplies will allow students to practice industry-standard sanitation procedures while reinforcing the food safety skills taught through the ServSafe curriculum. These supplies will also help reduce cross-contamination, maintain a clean learning environment, and teach students that sanitation is an important part of every foodservice career. Instead of simply learning cleaning procedures from a textbook, students will be able to practice them consistently in an authentic culinary setting.\r\n\r\nDehydrators will expand the hands-on learning opportunities available to my students and allow them to explore food preservation techniques that are difficult to demonstrate with our current equipment. Students will be able to dehydrate fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other foods while learning about moisture removal, food safety, storage, sustainability, and reducing food waste. Dehydrators can also support creative culinary projects in which students develop snacks, seasonings, garnishes, and other products. This equipment will help connect science, nutrition, food safety, and culinary creativity while giving students experience with a preservation method commonly used in both home and professional food production.","fullyFundedDate":1779279547477,"projectUrl":"project/culinary-chaos/10127184/","projectTitle":"Culinary Chaos","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dossett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9580162_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720476855607","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9580162"},{"teacherId":10081117,"projectId":9996262,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, our special education classroom now has a light table, a full set of light table materials, and a rolling whiteboard, resources that have already made a meaningful difference in how our students learn, engage, and express themselves every day.\r\n\r\nThe light table has quickly become one of the most popular and effective tools in our classroom. Many of our students benefit from hands-on, sensory-based learning, and the light table gives them a way to explore colors, shapes, letters, and textures in a way that feels engaging rather than overwhelming. \r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding moments came the very first time we set up the light table and materials. Several students gasped and immediately gathered around, eyes wide, reaching out to touch the glowing surface before we had even explained how to use it. A few students who typically need significant encouragement to try new activities sat down right away and began exploring completely on their own, smiling and pointing out the colors and patterns they were creating. It was a joyful reminder of how powerful the right tool can be in sparking curiosity and confidence in our students.\r\n\r\nThe rolling whiteboard has also become an essential part of our daily routine. We use it to display visual schedules, model new skills, and create space for students to practice writing, drawing, and communicating in front of their peers. Because it's mobile, we're able to bring instruction directly to small groups or individual students who need it, rather than requiring every student to gather in one fixed spot, which has made a real difference for students who need more flexible, individualized support.\r\n\r\nTogether, these resources have expanded what we're able to offer our students, both academically and sensorially, and have given several students new ways to access learning that were not previously available to them. Your support has directly translated into moments of joy, engagement, and growth in our classroom, and we are deeply grateful for the difference it has made.","fullyFundedDate":1777936869949,"projectUrl":"project/lighting-up-learning-sensory-tools-for/9996262/","projectTitle":"Lighting Up Learning: Sensory Tools for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Frye","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10081117"},{"teacherId":9580162,"projectId":9962561,"letterContent":"On behalf of our Culinary Arts students, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for the incredible donation of blenders and food processors to our classroom. Your generosity has already made a tremendous impact on our program.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our students now have access to professional-quality equipment that allows them to work more efficiently, experiment with new techniques, and deepen their understanding of real-world culinary skills. From sauces and purées to doughs, fillings, and blended beverages, these tools have opened the door to lessons we simply could not offer before.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your donation helps create a learning environment where students feel valued, supported, and inspired to continue their culinary journey. Your contribution is helping us shape confident young culinarians who are excited to grow, explore, and pursue their goals.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our program and investing in our students' success. The items have quickly become an essential part of our daily classroom routine, helping students stay focused, calm, and ready to learn. We've incorporated the sensory tools into both individual workstations and group activities, allowing students to choose what helps them best regulate their emotions and attention. The calming corner for students who need a break to reset before returning to work is amazing.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students' faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. They eagerly explored each item, sharing their favorites and even showing each other how to use them. One of the most memorable moments was watching a student who typically struggles with transitions calmly move from one activity to another after using the sensory tools—something that used to be very difficult for him.\r\n\r\nThese materials have truly made a difference in our CDC classroom. They have given my students more opportunities to self-regulate, focus, and participate meaningfully in their learning. The sensory items have created a more inclusive, supportive environment where each student can thrive.
