Although it seems like a simple item, it's added a meaningful space in my classroom. Thanks to you, we now have a welcoming spot where my students gather each morning to connect, learn, and build community together.\r\n\r\nEach morning at 8:15, my students come to their assigned spots on the carpet and kick off the day with a Morning Meeting. During this time, each student is given space to talk about their life, their challenges, and the things they're proud of. We start by greeting one another, laugh at the \"Meme of the Day,\" and discuss the day's schedule. Here, we've talked about tough subjects like bullying, friendship, and tough things happening at home. Building a safe place for all students to feel valued and loved has been my top priority, and this rug has literally provided a soft place for them to land. \r\n\r\nI also teach whole group instruction on the rug. In one short month, we've learned about partitioning shapes, skip counting, phonics, and practiced fluency on this rug. We've also conducted science experiments and listened to read-alouds like \"What if Everyone Did That?\" and \"The Tale of Despereaux.\"\r\n\r\nSo, thank you for giving us a home base to return to each morning and afternoon. Thank you for giving them an alternative place to sit that isn't a cold metal seat. And thank you for supporting my passion!\r\n\r\nI love you all and appreciate you!","fullyFundedDate":1751228690521,"projectUrl":"project/an-area-rug-for-mrs-lukess-class/9434856/","projectTitle":"An Area Rug For Mrs. Lukes's Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lukes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10064539_orig.jpg?crop=952,953,x0,y3&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750948878496","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10064539"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_92395","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":389,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":36,"percentWhite":24,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":26,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.0,"schoolId":92395,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Goodlettsville Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Goodlettsville Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/metro-nashville-public-schools/goodlettsville-elementary-school/92395"}
