There were eighty students in attendance (which is 13% of the student body), and approximately twenty adults present. Students from another school desired to attend, but transportation issues prevented them from doing so. It is my hope that the district will host an annual Comic Con event after seeing the success of this event. District communications is creating a video of the event that will be shared across all district social media platforms.\r\n\r\nThis event was all encompassing in that students from 9th-12th grade were in attendance; students of all ability levels were in attendance (including some of our lower level SPED students and IB students); and students of all races were in attendance (African, Asian, Caucasian, Latino, and Middle Eastern). The library collection was expanded by 171 books through this donation and through another generous donation for this event. This event was a success because so many members of the community came together. My co-workers judged the cosplay contest along with an employee of the local public library; an art teacher from another school provided me contacts to all the guests who were present; my husband and other co-workers checked students in and served them cupcakes and bottled water; and the local comic community volunteered their time and talents to speak at the event, to set up displays, and to exhibit their work. A local comic book store owner provided 200 free comic books. Each student received an anime lanyard with an event badge, an event map, two free comic books, two cupcakes and a bottled water, and a party favor bag with a DragonBall Z bracelet, a Demon Slayer keychain, anime and manga stickers and an anime necklace. Door prizes and prizes for the cosplay contest were awarded during the event. Seven of our students displayed their art work at the event. The students were very creative in their runway walk at the cosplay contest and in their costume design.\r\n\r\nEven with all of the activities going on at the event, three books were checked out. The students were very excited to see the new books. I expect circulation to increase once I return to work and once spring break is over. Circulation from the graphic collection makes up the largest portion of my overall circulation at over 34%.\r\n\r\nWe are so very grateful for this amazing opportunity for our students in which literacy and the arts were emphasized in a fun manner that brought so many together. We had no behavior problems at this event, and we received numerous comments from attendees regarding their impression of the event. It would not have been possible without your very generous donation. Words cannot really express the joy of the students, but the photos I am providing will do so. Thank you again.","fullyFundedDate":1769177774493,"projectUrl":"project/lets-get-graphic/9939922/","projectTitle":"Let's Get Graphic","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp794171_orig.jpg?crop=390,390,x0,y113&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762792055656","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/794171"},{"teacherId":794171,"projectId":9887267,"letterContent":"The first ever RHS Library Con/Comic Con event was a smashing success!
