We started the unit by doing research about owls in trade books from our library. Then students spent two class periods dissecting the owl pellets. They kept asking me, \"are these real?\" Initially, some were understandably a bit put off by the look and smell of the pellets, but once they started finding bones, they really got into it. After separating bones and fur, each group used bone charts to determine the type of bones they had found and what type of prey the owl ate. Once we had prey information for all pellets, students created a bar graph to show our results. This week they finished the unit by creating a barn owl food web. Thank you so much for making this exciting science unit possible for us.","fullyFundedDate":1732633547926,"projectUrl":"project/life-science-is-a-hoot/8937743/","projectTitle":"Life Science is a Hoot!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Crossman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5333877_orig.jpg?crop=676,676,x44,y127&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1570767725732","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5333877"},{"teacherId":2452992,"projectId":8648544,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping my class get this project funded.
