When the students first saw the vibrant, new materials laid out, their faces lit up with pure joy. There was a palpable sense of excitement throughout the hallway as both teachers and students realized they finally had a dedicated, beautiful place to gather, learn, and excel. Seeing the students' immediate love for their new space was an incredibly moving experience; it truly validated the idea that our learning environment deeply affects how our students feel about their education.\r\n\r\nThese rugs have now become the \"heart\" of our daily routine, providing a defined and comfortable hub for our most important work. We are transitioning directly into a series of foundational read-alouds, and having these \"comfy spaces\" has changed the entire dynamic of these lessons. Instead of being confined to desks, students can now settle in and focus entirely on the stories and literacy skills we are building together. It has created a sense of community and belonging that allows them to relax into their learning, making our classroom feel more like a home for discovery.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful to the donors who made this possible. Your generosity has provided more than just a classroom resource; you have given my students at HK8 a space where they feel valued and inspired. Knowing that others believe in their potential has brought tears of joy to my eyes, and seeing them thrive on these rugs is the best reward we could ask for. We are looking forward to many more hours of reading, growing, and excelling in these wonderful new spaces.","fullyFundedDate":1766262352919,"projectUrl":"project/the-lakeshore-alphabet-activity-carpet/9709840/","projectTitle":"The Lakeshore Alphabet Activity Carpet: Building Readers, Building Community.","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jennings","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10257871"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_93222","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":652,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":81,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":89,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"32.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.8,"schoolId":93222,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hamilton K-8 School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hamilton K-8 School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/memphis-shelby-county-schools/hamilton-middle-school/93222"}
