Most of the students at our school have limited access to art supplies at home.\r\nI want my students to know they can accomplish anything they choose to do! The supplies you provided are being used to help students create their own illustrations for books they write themselves. Small groups wrote a story together. Then students compared versions of water color illustrations from the picture books in our library. Students were given the supplies provided by you to create a picture from one page of their story. When these pictures are completed and dried students will glue them to the card stock this grant provided. Then the teacher will laminate them and bind them into complete books. This has not happened yet because it is too early in the school year and the students only come to the library once per week and I did not want to miss the deadline for submitting our letter of gratitude to you.\r\n\r\nStudents were excited to look at all the picture books we have in our library. They each had their favorites. And now they are proud of the pictures they are making.","fullyFundedDate":1778261998258,"projectUrl":"project/pages-of-possibility-empowering-young-a/10144536/","projectTitle":"Pages of Possibility: Empowering Young Authors Through Art","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Copeland","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1457142"},{"teacherId":1457142,"projectId":9953807,"letterContent":"American History is very important for all Americans to know. Winston Churchill said that, \"Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it\". Of course, a major part of our history are the people who lived it. The biographies your donation provided will go a long way toward introducting students to American heroes. \r\nThe project you helped fund, \"Learning American History Through Biographies,\" provided 53 new biographies! They have already served this year's fifth graders but they will continue to introduce students to these heroes for many years to come. When the biographies first started to arrive I only let fifth graders check them out because of their Living Biography Projects. It wasn't long before I had a waiting list from other grade level students who wanted to read them! Librarians love having a waiting list! It means the books have caught the interest of even more students!\r\nThe Living Biography Project is a combined effort between the ELA teachers, the art teacher and the librarian. We worked together to give all students a chance to shine during this project. It is amazing how the students who haven't always done well in traditional classes shine during this project! Many of them have already asked to do a similar project again!","fullyFundedDate":1766597667579,"projectUrl":"project/learning-american-history-through-biogra/9953807/","projectTitle":"Learning American History Through Biographies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Copeland","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1457142"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_92907","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":702,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":93,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"18.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":52.4,"schoolId":92907,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Adamsville Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Adamsville Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/mcnairy-co-school-district/adamsville-elementary-school/92907"}
