The classroom mailbox system and snacks have transformed our learning environment into a warm, supportive community where every child feels valued and cared for.\r\n\r\nEach morning, students check their personal mailboxes with anticipation, finding encouraging notes from classmates, feedback on their work, and special messages from me. We've integrated the mailboxes into our writing curriculum with \"Kindness Fridays,\" where students write and deliver compliments or thank-you notes to peers. The snacks have become part of our afternoon routine—students enjoy a healthy snack during read-aloud time, which helps them refocus and stay engaged during that crucial late-day learning window. It's amazing how a simple granola bar or crackers can help a hungry child concentrate on a math lesson.\r\n\r\nWhen students walked in and saw their names on individual mailboxes, their faces lit up with pride. \"I have my own mailbox? Like a real one?\" one student asked in amazement. They immediately wanted to write letters to each other! The first snack time was equally joyful—students were so grateful and excited, with several asking, \"We get snacks EVERY day?\" One student who often comes to school without breakfast actually had tears in his eyes.\r\n\r\nWe're expanding our mailbox system to include \"Author Fan Mail,\" where students will write letters to classmates about the stories they've published in our writing workshop. We're also starting a \"Secret Pal\" program where students anonymously send encouraging notes throughout the month. The snacks will continue to support our afternoon learning, and I'm already seeing improved focus and fewer behavior issues during that time of day.\r\n\r\nThank you for creating a classroom where students feel seen, supported, and ready to learn. Your generosity feeds both their bodies and their hearts.","fullyFundedDate":1785331499027,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-communication/10373099/","projectTitle":"Classroom Communication","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10066014"},{"teacherId":10066014,"projectId":10373131,"letterContent":"I am writing to share the incredible impact your donation has had on my 2nd grade classroom. The complete I Survived book series has become a cornerstone of our reading and history instruction, opening up new worlds for my students.\r\n\r\nEvery day during our literacy block, students eagerly reach for these books during independent reading time. We've also launched a \"History Detectives\" project where small groups read different titles from the series and create timelines of the historical events. Students research additional facts about events like the sinking of the Titanic, the San Francisco earthquake, and Hurricane Katrina, then present their findings to classmates. The combination of gripping storytelling and real history has made learning come alive in ways I've never seen before.\r\n\r\nWhen I unveiled the full I Survived collection, the room erupted in cheers! Several students literally jumped out of their seats with excitement. One student, who had been reluctant to read chapter books, immediately grabbed I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916 and declared, \"This is going to be my favorite book ever!\" Within minutes, every single book was checked out, and students were sprawled across our reading rug, completely absorbed.\r\n\r\nWe're now moving into our \"Survivor Stories\" writing unit, where students will craft their own historical fiction narratives inspired by what they've learned. They're choosing different time periods and disasters to research, then writing from a child's perspective. We're also creating a classroom museum display with artifacts, maps, and student artwork representing each historical event from the series.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and investing in their futures. You've given them more than books—you've given them a love of reading and a connection to history that will last a lifetime.\r\n\r\nWith deepest gratitude,","fullyFundedDate":1784211079673,"projectUrl":"project/reading-history-i-survived/10373131/","projectTitle":"Reading History: I Survived","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10066014"},{"teacherId":10078284,"projectId":10227100,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing the classroom mailbox organizer for my students. It may look like a simple organizational tool, but it has completely changed the way we manage completed work in our classroom. \r\n\r\nEach student has an assigned spot in the mailbox organizer. When papers are ready to be returned, they can be placed directly into that student's individual space. Students know exactly where to go to collect their work, which has made our classroom routines much smoother and has helped them take greater responsibility for their work. Instead of stacks of papers waiting to be sorted or handed out, every paper has a home. \r\n\r\nThe mailbox has also given me back valuable instructional time. In a busy second-grade classroom, even a few minutes spent passing out papers adds up quickly. This system allows us to spend more of our day learning while also teaching students an important organizational routine. My students are becoming increasingly independent because they know where their materials belong and how to manage them themselves.","fullyFundedDate":1778262020561,"projectUrl":"project/helping-my-students-stay-organized-and/10227100/","projectTitle":"Helping My Students Stay Organized and Independent Every Day","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sampson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10078284"},{"teacherId":10078284,"projectId":10226954,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping provide the binders, folders, and organizational materials for our Tiger Binders. These binders have become an important part of our everyday classroom routine and have made a meaningful difference for both my students and their families.\r\n\r\nEach student has a Tiger Binder that travels between school and home each day. The folders inside give students a specific place for important papers, completed work, homework, and information that needs to reach their families. Instead of papers being stuffed into backpacks or lost along the way, my second graders are learning how to organize their materials and take responsibility for getting things where they belong. It has also given families one consistent place to look each evening for communication from school.\r\n\r\nAt this age, learning to be organized and responsible is just as important as learning the academic content. These materials have allowed me to establish a system that my students can actually manage independently. I have loved watching them learn the routine of checking their binders, putting papers in the correct place, and making sure their materials are ready to go home.","fullyFundedDate":1778262026392,"projectUrl":"project/keeping-families-connected-one-binder-a/10226954/","projectTitle":"Keeping Families Connected: One Binder at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sampson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10078284"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_48978","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":420,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":30,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":61,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":10,"gradesServed":"2 - 3","studentTeacherRatio":"12.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":48978,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Marshall Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Marshall Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/marshall-county-school-district/marshall-elementary-school/48978"}
