We began with Good Dog: Home Is Where the Heart Is, and 30 students read the book, passed the AR test, and earned an invitation to our first book club lunch. Students enjoyed lunch, special snacks, and games while celebrating their reading accomplishments. They were so excited to participate, and this experience encouraged many of them to continue reading more books in the Good Dog series.\r\n\r\nWe have also completed our first book club group for The Kingdom Over the Sea: The Lost Stone. Students enjoyed this book and were excited to explore another chapter book series. We recently held our first book club lunch for this group, and another lunch is planned in a couple of weeks for students who are currently working through the book.\r\n\r\nI truly believe these books are making a difference for our third graders. They are helping students build their confidence and develop the skills needed to read chapter books independently or with their families. For some students, this is their first experience discovering that they are capable of reading and enjoying an entire chapter book! Seeing their excitement and growing confidence has been so rewarding.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, I plan to continue expanding our book club collection with more short, beginner-friendly chapter books to give students additional opportunities to find books they love and experience success as readers.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping us obtain these books and providing opportunities for our third-grade students to participate in these activities. To say that I am excited is an understatement! My students saw the boxes come rolling in, and they were amazed! The ohhhhhhs and awwwwssss continued for several minutes! There isn't a lot that excites us more in this classroom than a box full of fresh, crisp new books! \r\n\r\nMy students have already developed a love for reading in just the couple of months that we have been together in 4th grade. I try to keep my bookshelves stocked FULL of the newest and most exciting books paired with the classics that are so important for kids to experience. Thank you so much for helping me provide a wide variety of books to my students.
