In our school, we see daily proof that a lack of resources does not mean a lack of ambition. Our students arrive each morning with a level of creativity and curiosity that is truly infectious, and your support ensures that their potential isn't sidelined by a lack of basic supplies.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your donation goes far beyond the items themselves:\r\n\r\nStructure & Confidence: The binders and tab dividers are more than just storage; they are organizational frameworks. For a student, having a dedicated place for every note and assignment reduces anxiety and builds the executive functioning skills necessary for high school and beyond.\r\n\r\nLong-Term Success: Page protectors allow our students to build a \"Math Toolkit\" of reference sheets that will survive the wear-and-tear of a busy school year, serving as a constant resource for review.\r\n\r\nDiscovery through Geometry: The compasses bring math to life. Instead of just looking at diagrams in a textbook, our students can now physically construct geometric wonders, turning abstract concepts into hands-on reality.\r\n\r\nThe Bigger Picture\r\nBy removing these financial barriers, you have sent a powerful message to my students: \"You are worth the investment.\" You are helping them see themselves not just as students, but as mathematically brilliant individuals capable of leading and uplifting our community.\r\n\r\nThank you for being a partner in their education and for believing in their future.","fullyFundedDate":1764110306786,"projectUrl":"project/setting-up-for-success-binders-tools/9451962/","projectTitle":"Setting Up for Success: Binders, Tools, and Confidence in Math","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Douglas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4867176_orig.jpg?crop=336,336,x576,y276&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752001099864","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4867176"},{"teacherId":10028248,"projectId":9336023,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my English Language Learners now have the tools to create personal portfolios that showcase both their language growth and their future dreams. The moment I introduced the portfolio binders, my students lit up with excitement. Many carefully decorated the covers with their names and small drawings, proudly claiming them as their own. For students who are often balancing school with jobs, family responsibilities, and learning a new culture, having a portfolio that feels truly theirs is powerful—it gives them a sense of ownership and pride.\r\n\r\nAlready, we've used the portfolios to set personal language and life goals. For example, one student who dreams of becoming a pilot added aviation vocabulary to his \"career page,\" while another, who wants to be a chef, collected English recipes to practice reading and writing. Watching them flip back through their work, reflect on their progress, and set new goals has been inspiring. These portfolios are becoming a bridge between language practice in the classroom and the ambitions that drive them outside of school.\r\n\r\nThe next step is using the portfolios as living documents: students will continue adding writing samples, reflections, and evidence of growth throughout the year. By spring, they'll be able to look back at how far they've come—not just in English, but in their confidence and their vision for the future. Thank you for giving my students a resource that makes their hard work visible and meaningful.","fullyFundedDate":1749496224745,"projectUrl":"project/enl-student-portfolios-for-language-and/9336023/","projectTitle":"ENL Student Portfolios for Language and Life Goals","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Frances McNally","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10028248_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746714014136","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/fmcnally"},{"teacherId":8560820,"projectId":8955720,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the support to get extra whiteboards in my classroom! They have helped so much for my starting attempts at Building Thinking Classrooms strategies. I have used them numerous times for small group thinking tasks, and I have even had students ask to use the whiteboards to work out problems instead of on their paper. These whiteboards are made of good material and have not shown any issues yet!\r\n\r\nI also want to add that while the use of them has certainaly helped, I know they will be so much more effective for future years. I will be going to a BTC conference this summer and be learning from Peter Liljedahl, the teacher, researcher, and author of these teaching strategies. I know that from this, I will have a much better understanding and have so many more ideas of how to use and implement this than just from reading the book!\r\n\r\nThanks for supporting our schools, we need support now more than ever!","fullyFundedDate":1738777275549,"projectUrl":"project/more-whiteboards/8955720/","projectTitle":"More Whiteboards","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Griffith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8560820_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735304372058","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8560820"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_92614","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":635,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":75,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":59.8,"schoolId":92614,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brainerd High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brainerd High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/hamilton-county-schools/brainerd-high-school/92614"}
