Students are excited to share the books they are reading and talk about the characters with their friends.\r\n\r\nThese new texts are giving my students opportunities to build a wide variety of reading skills while enjoying engaging, high-interest stories. We use the books to practice making predictions, identifying the main idea and key details, understanding characters and their motivations, making inferences, learning new vocabulary, and thinking about the message or lesson of a story. They also provide opportunities to discuss different perspectives, make connections to their own lives, and support their thinking with evidence from the text.\r\n\r\nWe read together, read independently, work in small groups, and often stop to discuss an interesting character, word, event, or idea. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel comfortable sharing their thinking and where reading feels like an experience rather than just work.\r\n\r\nWe love all the books and are so grateful they are in our classroom library!","fullyFundedDate":1777640356622,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-growing-readers-dive-into-chapt/10137454/","projectTitle":"Help Our Growing Readers Dive Into Chapter Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Henderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2256844_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1773077974620","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2256844"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_91823","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":400,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":94,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"28.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":30.1,"schoolId":91823,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about McLaughlin School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"McLaughlin School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-dakota/mclaughlin-school-dist-15-2/mclaughlin-school/91823"}
