At first, the kids were hesitant to work with robots because they haven't experienced it yet. Most of them were challenged and locked-in their focus to finish and have the robots work. They really have fun and developed their manipulative, social and communication skills as they interact with each other. It was one of my happiest moment in teaching here in McLaughlin School to see the kids talking, laughing and interacting with one another for the whole period of the class.\r\n\r\nThe students were not that they have this interest in robotics and mechanic building not until they tried building robots and controlling them. The most significant impact that this activity gave to my students is the opportunity to showcase their ability to solve mechanical problems as a group. I could remember clearly how they solve together their robots that are not working, they really evaluated their robots over and over again and identified what makes it wrong and made it right. How I wish the school will offer basic robotics for the coming years.","fullyFundedDate":1740945477028,"projectUrl":"project/tabs-for-coding-in-robotics/8945521/","projectTitle":"Tabs for Coding in Robotics","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Goopio","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9838364_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731691334906","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9838364"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_91823","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":443,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":94,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"31.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":30.4,"schoolId":91823,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about McLaughlin School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"McLaughlin School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-dakota/mclaughlin-school-dist-15-2/mclaughlin-school/91823"}
