The new resources have quickly become a favorite part of our day. We've been using them during our STEAM centers to explore balance, building, color mixing, patterns, and problem-solving in ways that feel like play—but spark big learning moments.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened the very first day we opened the materials. As I brought out the bins, my students gasped, cheered, and immediately began talking to each other about what they wanted to try first. Their excitement was contagious. A small group gathered around the magnetic blocks to experiment with building different heights, while another group used the magnetic tiles and animals to build \"fall houses\" for their farm figures. The games were also a HUGE hit and many families experienced first hand the value of preschool board games. Seeing them collaborate, negotiate, and celebrate each other's ideas showed exactly why these resources matter.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are working on a STEAM challenge where students design and build a \"playdough leaf\" that can hold real fall leaves without blowing away. They are using the new materials to test strength, stability, and shape in their creations. These tools are helping them explore real science concepts through hands-on experimentation, all while building confidence in themselves as thinkers, makers, and problem-solvers.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include extending these explorations into small group investigations—predicting, testing, and recording what they discover. Your support is allowing my students to see themselves as scientists and engineers every single day. \r\n\r\nThe impact of this grant is everlasting and I have submitted a second grant for further tools to build curiosity, wonder and excitement.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and helping create a classroom where curiosity leads the way.","fullyFundedDate":1758051631648,"projectUrl":"project/fall-into-learning-with-steam-building-i/9700170/","projectTitle":"Fall Into Learning with Steam Building in Pre-K!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Owens","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp397610_orig.jpg?crop=1856,1856,x0,y464&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721873947965","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/397610"},{"teacherId":7537109,"projectId":8705841,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of books to our classroom! We're focusing on comprehension strategies, making inferences, and analyzing stories in fun, interactive ways. Reading in our classroom is lively, with independent reading time and group discussions, all helping students grow as readers.\r\n\r\nSome students are really connecting with the new books!
