One of the ways students get extra practice is to complete learning paths on iReady. We are grateful to have one to one devices but often fall short on every student having headphones. Because of you, each of my students have what is needed to complete assignments using technology. During this time, it helps me to focus on the students at my table without distractions. \r\nOne of our ways to have a family centered class is during our morning meeting. I am able to write out messages on bright colored paper for students to read with me. The chart paper is large enough for students to see. Writing these messages provides students opportunities to identify and read sight words, follow the prompt to partner share and have an engaged and fun meeting.\r\nEach student has their own primary writing journal. They love to write, illustrate their writing and have turns sharing their story with their friend. It means so much to know that there are people who care about educators and are willing to help us meet some of the challenges we face when it comes to providing the materials our classrooms need—materials we often have to purchase out of our own pockets.\r\n\r\nThese first two weeks of school have primarily focused on procedures, expectations, and classroom rules, but the donated materials are already being put to good use!\r\n\r\nThe air fresheners are currently plugged in and helping maintain a clean, pleasant-smelling environment that my students have come to appreciate. I also have my oil diffuser going simultaneously, adding another calming touch to the room. The diffuser's lights provide an additional sensory element that can be helpful for students who benefit from calming visual stimulation and emotional regulation.\r\n\r\nOnce a week, I thoroughly wipe down all of the tables with disinfecting spray to help reduce the buildup and spread of germs on surfaces that students use every day. I also use the disinfecting wipes daily on high-touch areas such as door handles and the hand-sanitizer bottle. As the weather changes and cold and flu season approaches, maintaining a clean classroom environment becomes even more important.\r\n\r\nMy students are already excited about having lotion available as part of our classroom supplies. With permission, students can use it when needed. And, as you can imagine, the tissues have already been put to work—those little noses didn't waste any time!\r\n\r\nWhat may seem like simple classroom supplies make a meaningful difference. They help me create a classroom that is clean, comfortable, welcoming, and supportive of my students' needs so that they can focus on learning and creating.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for investing in our classroom.
