Our class could have the opportunity to have an in-depth understanding of scientific concepts and investigations. We are dire in need of tools that foster student wonder, observation, discovery, and exploration. Notes and videos are not enough! My students need the opportunity to research and investigate concepts with a kinesthetic and hands-on approach. Benjamin Franklin once stated, "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn." Studies have shown that there is a lack of diversity amongst STEM careers. This love of a hands-on discovery should be fostered at an early age within the classroom. This project will allow me to provide my students with science stations that are filled with tools such as prisms, multicultural books, weather instruments, life cycle kits, and other STEAM supplies. These science stations will enhance student learning and ultimately improve critical thinking skills. My class is filled with the next generation of scientists and leaders, but in order to stimulate their thinking, we need adequate tools and supplies.
