That is why I am committed to building a classroom community where every student, regardless of background or circumstance, knows they belong. I have been fortunate to receive support from donors who helped me take meaningful steps toward that goal, and I am deeply grateful. While I am still working to gather everything I need, those initial contributions made a real difference.\r\nMy seventh graders come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and I want them to have more than academic skills when they leave my classroom. During our morning enrichment period, I guide students through thoughtful conversations on topics like identity, fairness, and racial equity. These are not easy conversations, but they are necessary ones. To support that work, I am building a space equipped with comfortable seating, snacks, and social-emotional books, games, and tools that help students open up, connect with one another, and develop the confidence to engage with the world around them.\r\nWhat I see in my students when they feel truly supported is remarkable. Young people who once sat quietly on the edges of conversation begin to share their perspectives. Students who come from very different life experiences start to find common ground. Your donation helps make that possible by providing the materials and resources that turn a classroom into a community. In a world that can feel overwhelming for young people, I want my room to be the place where they feel empowered to grow, not just as math students, but as compassionate and confident individuals ready to make their mark.","fullyFundedDate":1758040582612,"projectUrl":"project/differences-matter/9396414/","projectTitle":"Differences Matter!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wright","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10049999_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749066366916","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10049999"},{"teacherId":10049999,"projectId":9396288,"letterContent":"With twenty years in the classroom, I have learned that the most powerful thing I can do for my students is make sure they have what they need to engage with the material in front of them. Math is not a subject you can observe from a distance; students have to get their hands on it. I have been fortunate to receive support from donors who helped me secure some of the supplies I desperately needed, and I am deeply grateful for that. While I am still working to build a complete class set of calculators, those initial contributions made a real difference.\r\nRight now, my seventh graders are working through some of the most practical math they will ever encounter: percentages, interest, budgets, and real-world money decisions. These are skills they will use for the rest of their lives. A calculator does not do the thinking for them; it removes the barrier so they can focus on understanding why a calculation matters, not just whether they pressed the right buttons. When more students have a working tool in hand, the whole class moves together instead of some students waiting, sharing, or going without.\r\nWhat excites my students most is when math stops feeling like a worksheet and starts feeling like something real. With more calculators available, I can design projects around actual financial scenarios: comparing loan options, planning a budget, calculating savings over time. I have seen students who struggle with abstract concepts light up the moment numbers connect to something they recognize from their own lives. One calculator in a student's hand at the right moment can be the thing that shifts their relationship with math entirely. These students deserve that moment, and continued support helps make it possible.","fullyFundedDate":1755521859570,"projectUrl":"project/math-needs/9396288/","projectTitle":"Math Needs!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wright","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10049999_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749066366916","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10049999"},{"teacherId":3211505,"projectId":9761626,"letterContent":"This project has made a meaningful and lasting impact on my students' learning, especially as I teach in a Title I school where resources can be limited. With access to high-quality, color maps, students are better able to identify patterns, make connections, and engage more deeply with geographic concepts that can otherwise feel abstract. The addition of snacks has also been incredibly important—many of my students benefit from having something quick during the day, which helps them stay focused, energized, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nMany of our donors use technology at home, but in our classroom, tools like the color printer and laminator serve a very specific instructional purpose. The color printer allows me to provide clear, detailed maps that highlight important features like climate zones, elevation, and resources—details that are often lost in black-and-white copies. The laminator allows us to turn those maps into reusable, interactive learning tools. Students can write on them, collaborate with peers, and revisit them throughout the unit, which strengthens understanding and retention.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the ability to actively engage with these materials. They love using dry-erase markers on laminated maps and working together to solve problems or identify regions. I've seen several students, especially those who may struggle with traditional instruction, become more confident and involved when they can learn visually and collaboratively. Because of the materials provided, I've been able to create more hands-on, student-centered lessons that increase engagement and participation.\r\n\r\nI would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Atlanta Braves Most Valuable Teachers with Xfinity for supporting this project. Your generosity has made a real difference in my classroom, and my students are benefiting every single day from your investment in their success. A very special thank you as well to my mom, Edith Carter, for her generous donation and for investing in the future of my students—your support means more than words can express.","fullyFundedDate":1767032628992,"projectUrl":"project/print-create-inspire-learning-in-full/9761626/","projectTitle":"Print, Create, Inspire: Learning in Full Color","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kea","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3211505_orig.png?crop=710,710,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758818114549","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrskea"},{"teacherId":10397833,"projectId":9986630,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of a printer and laminator to our classroom. It is just the first step in getting students interacting with books. These books were chosen based on student interest and their own ideas. We were able to look at them at the end of last school year and started talking about how we are going to use them this coming school year. \r\n\r\nStudents who read have better outcomes, there is research, however I have seen the difference between a readers work and students who struggle to read. The students who read on a daily basis enjoy writing and do not have negative attitudes when asked to complete work. Students who read produce better outcomes. The knowledge and experience of knowing that not just their teacher was supporting them touched them, prompting questions about why. These are a huge part of reading comprehension and text analysis. \r\n\r\nStudents are allowed to pick from the classroom library daily. We read in the mornings and for 5-10 minutes every class period. The sets that were purchased have multiple books in each series for the students to enjoy.
