We spent 6 weeks reading The Wild Robot. We used the Frayer Model for interactive vocabulary. We built our own Wild Robots out of 2 index cards as a STEMs challenge. We did directed drawings of Roz and Brightbill. Students were asked to answer vocabulary questions, comprehension questions, identify figurative language, identify themes, and analyze cause and effect. We had lively discussions every day. There were a few chapters where several of my students cried because they were so attached to the characters. Many students want to read the sequels! I am so happy I got to help my students truly love a book. At the end of the book, students completed a project to demonstrate their understanding of characters, events, and themes in the book. These included news articles, building characters, creating a game board, drawing a map of the island, and writing letters to the author. They presented their projects with confidence. I am so proud of my students. Thank you for this opportunity.","fullyFundedDate":1750799974898,"projectUrl":"project/the-wild-robot-stem-novel-study/9423524/","projectTitle":"The Wild Robot STEM Novel Study","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Peacock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10059824"},{"teacherId":4467147,"projectId":9265036,"letterContent":"When our resources arrived, my students' faces lit up with excitement. Your kindness has made a huge impact on my students and helped create a more supportive learning space.\r\n\r\nMany of my students receive special education services and often need extra motivation to stay focused and feel successful throughout the day. Having snacks available gave them something to look forward to and helped keep their energy and attention up during lessons. One student told me, \"I try harder when I know we get snack after,\" and it truly showed in their effort and attitude.\r\n\r\nThe snacks also helped build trust and routine.
