With the STEM robotics kits, my 9th grade students were able to learn how coding and engineering come together to solve real-world challenges. Rather than passively consuming information, they are actively engaged in building, testing, and refining their ideas. This hands-on approach strengthens their critical thinking and collaboration skills, helping them better understand how technology is used in meaningful, practical ways in today's world.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is the opportunity to bring their ideas to life. Over several days, they worked together to build their robots and then proudly competed with them in their Beta Club competition. Some of my students—especially those who may not always shine in traditional classroom settings—truly came alive during this process. They took ownership of their projects, eagerly troubleshooting problems and finding creative solutions. After the competition, many immediately began discussing improvements for next year, showing a level of motivation and forward-thinking that has been incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nAs students from a small rural community, opportunities like this are truly transformative. These robotics kits not only build technical skills, but also confidence, leadership, and perseverance. My students are already strong leaders in our school, and this experience has further inspired them to dream bigger and push beyond perceived limitations. Thank you for investing in their growth and the impact of your support will continue far beyond our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1771615202717,"projectUrl":"project/building-future-innovators-with-stem-rob/10091894/","projectTitle":"Building Future Innovators With STEM Robotics Through Beta","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nicholas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3455568_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1461688363921","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-nicholas-science"},{"teacherId":5897646,"projectId":9611369,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for your contributions to fulfilling this project. Your generosity has really helped with providing students necessary materials to have a hands on engaging learning opportunity. Students were so excited and curious when the boxes started coming in. Every new box sparked a little more curiosity. \r\nYour generosity has sparked involvement in activities since they've moved away from so much tech use and more hands on. Not only have you helped me with this shift, but it's helping provide materials that students otherwise may not be able to have. Students are excited when they walk in and see that it's a tech free day full of hands on activities. We are all truly grateful for your contributions. This project is one that makes a big impact on students. It not only allows them to relive their childhood but also see how The Lorax highlights key events that we are seeing unfold in front of us daily.\r\nThis project takes the approach to show human impact on the environment from the eyes of a childhood favorite. It illustrates how detrimental the impact can be if we don't act to change our impact to a more positive impact. Students then take what the book illustrates and devise ways that they can apply in their daily lives to help reduce their negative impact and promote a positive impact.\r\nDue to your generosity, you are helping promote an engaging lesson that activates core memories as well as promotes literacy and growth of the student as a whole person.
