They were involved in the unboxing of the rugs and headphones. Once the rug was unboxed, they gathered around, pointing out the different continents and tracing routes of migration we had discussed. The map quickly became more than just a visual—it turned into an interactive tool that helped students physically connect with abstract spatial concepts. It was inspiring to see them make real-world connections through hands-on exploration.\r\nThe new headphones have been just as impactful. Students now engage in guided listening activities, such as edpuzzle videos and College Board videos for them to listen and take Cornell notes, without distractions. During one activity, students used the headphones to analyze population data while rotating around the map rug to identify trends across regions. The quiet focus and meaningful discussions that followed showed how much the multisensory approach supported diverse learning styles and deeper understanding.\r\nOur next step is to expand these experiences through a digital mapping project. Students will use what they've practiced on the rug to create story maps that illustrate global migration patterns, population trends, and resource distribution. Your generous support has transformed our classroom into a space where students can step, listen, and learn in powerful new ways.\r\n Thank you for helping make geography come alive for them every day!","fullyFundedDate":1757114040342,"projectUrl":"project/step-listen-learn-interactive-tools/9581670/","projectTitle":"“Step, Listen, Learn: Interactive Tools for AP Human Geography”","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Moyd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9989900_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743783523231","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9989900"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6430","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":402,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":92,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":51.4,"schoolId":6430,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lee Central High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lee Central High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/lee-county-school-district/lee-central-high-school/6430"}
