These books have already become an essential part of our lessons, our independent reading time, and even our free-draw moments. You've helped create an art space where students can explore, imagine, and learn through both words and pictures.\r\n\r\nThese new texts introduce students to foundational art concepts, like line, shape, color, texture, and storytelling through images, in ways that are accessible and exciting. Books that teach drawing techniques have helped students build confidence as young artists, while our new art reference books give them the tools to experiment, observe, and problem-solve like real creators. Even our graphic novels are supporting literacy skills by encouraging fluency, sequencing, and visual interpretation.\r\n\r\nReading in the art room now looks like small clusters of students gathered around a book, pointing at illustrations, tracing shapes with their fingers, or trying out a technique they just saw on the page. Other students curl up with a book during independent reading or free-draw time, flipping directly from inspiration to creation. The art room feels more like a studio and a library all at once.\r\n\r\nSome books have quickly become student favorites. One kindergarten class absolutely fell in love with *Lines That Wiggle*. We used it to explore the element of line, and the students were so inspired that we created a project called \"Lines That Wiggle and Ghosts That Giggle.\" Watching their excitement as they connected the book to their own artwork was truly joyful. Older students have been equally enthusiastic with the how to draw books and our \"Dog Man\" comics have become a top choice for reluctant readers who now rush to finish their projects so they can read.\r\n\r\nEvery student at Eastside, from our smallest kindergarten artists to our confident fifth graders, now has daily access to books that spark creativity and support literacy. Your generosity has made our art room a place where students can learn new skills, discover their artistic voices, and fall in love with reading in an entirely new way.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your kindness continues to shape our students' learning and their love for art.","fullyFundedDate":1760724275117,"projectUrl":"project/drawn-to-read-a-creative-library-for-yo/9655726/","projectTitle":"Drawn to Read: a Creative Library for Young Artists","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Patterson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8357623_orig.jpg?crop=1398,1398,x0,y456&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1646685255676","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8357623"},{"teacherId":9098649,"projectId":9577936,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our classroom project. These hands-on tools have become a favorite part of our classroom routine—used during morning work, small group centers, and even indoor recess. Whether they're working together on a large floor puzzle or quietly focused on a logic challenge, I've seen their problem-solving skills, perseverance, and collaboration grow with each piece they connect.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, puzzles have helped foster patience and a growth mindset. For many students, finishing a challenging puzzle has become a source of pride and confidence—something they carry into other areas of their learning.\r\n\r\nYour donation did more than just provide materials—it gave my students joyful learning moments, critical thinking opportunities, and the chance to work cooperatively in ways that textbooks can't always offer. These resources will continue to benefit future classes for years to come.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart—and on behalf of every student whose face lit up while puzzling—thank you. Thanks to your donation, we received the Qball tossable microphone—and it has truly transformed our morning meetings and classroom discussions!\r\n\r\nFrom the moment we introduced the Qball, the energy in the room shifted. Students were instantly more engaged, excited, and eager to participate. The microphone gave every student, especially our quieter voices, the confidence to speak up and be heard. Passing the Qball made our discussions feel more like a collaborative conversation, rather than a traditional teacher-led meeting.\r\n\r\nBefore, many students hesitated to share during our morning meetings, whether due to shyness, fear of judgment, or simply not feeling heard in a larger group. But the Qball changed that. It created a fun and safe way for students to take turns, speak clearly, and feel like their voice mattered. Even our most reluctant speakers began raising their hands, eager for their turn to hold the microphone.\r\n\r\nThis simple tool has empowered our students to become better communicators and active members of our learning community. It has helped build classroom trust, fostered mutual respect, and encouraged thoughtful listening. Most importantly, it made every child feel that what they say is important.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their confidence and voice.
