Originally, we were going to convert both minibikes, but decided to leave one minibike as a gas-powered minibike. This would allow the students to have a real-life comparison as I can run both vehicles against each other.\r\nOne thing the students didn't realize is an EV conversion is not just a plug and play setup. For both the minibike and the go-kart the students had to figure out a safe way to mount the motors, then we had to have the school cnc and welding classes design and create new motor mounts.\r\nOnce the students have completed both projects, we are going to take on the task of making a hybrid from the minibike. They will reinstall the gas motor in the original place to drive the rear wheel, then make a new mount for the electric motor to drive the front wheel.\r\nThank you for stepping up and helping my students experience what it takes to make an electric vehicle.","fullyFundedDate":1736007118149,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-students-learn-about-electric-v/8934887/","projectTitle":"Help Our Students Learn About Electric Vehicles!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Wallace","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9511815_orig.jpg?crop=571,571,x85,y24&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731287672745","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9511815"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_27484","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":450,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":22,"percentWhite":49,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":20,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"10 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"28.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":63.0,"schoolId":27484,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about J Harley Bonds Career Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"J Harley Bonds Career Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/greenville-county-schools/j-harley-bonds-career-center/27484"}
