Thanks to you, we now have the lighting tools to truly bring the underwater world of The Little Mermaid Jr. to life.\r\n\r\nBefore this project was funded, our stage lighting was extremely limited. We had big ideas but very few ways to create them. The ocean scenes felt flat, dramatic moments were hard to highlight, and we couldn't fully capture the magic our students were working so hard to create. Now, with our new LED stage lights, colorful light gels, and proper equipment, everything has changed.\r\n\r\nWhen the lights shift to deep blues and greens, the stage feels like it's underwater. When warm colors fill the space, the mood instantly transforms. Our students are seeing firsthand how powerful lighting can be in telling a story. They are learning how to adjust brightness, experiment with color, and think like designers. For many of them, this is their first introduction to technical theatre, and it has sparked so much curiosity and pride.\r\n\r\nWhat has meant the most is watching their confidence grow. When students see the stage glow because of something they helped design, they stand a little taller. They understand that theatre is not just about being in the spotlight. It is about teamwork, creativity, and the many roles that come together to create something magical.\r\n\r\nThese lights will continue to serve our school long after this production ends. We will use them for future performances, talent shows, and special events, giving even more students the chance to learn and shine.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our program. Thank you for giving our students the tools to create something beautiful. Your support has made a lasting impact, and we are so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1764365556193,"projectUrl":"project/bring-our-undersea-stage-to-life/9546088/","projectTitle":"Bring Our Undersea Stage to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mangum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1987748"},{"teacherId":1517704,"projectId":9101796,"letterContent":"On behalf of our entire District Crisis Care Team, I would like to extend our deepest thanks for funding our \"Care Kits for Crisis Response\" grant. Your generous support has already made a powerful impact on our ability to respond swiftly and compassionately during school-based crises.\r\n\r\nAs a team of approximately 100 trained counselors, therapists, and social workers, we are often called upon with little or no notice to support students, staff, and communities in moments of intense need. Thanks to your funding, each team member now has a fully stocked \"Care Kit\" ready to go—stored in their car or workspace—allowing us to show up equipped, not just emotionally, but physically, with the tools necessary to support those in crisis.\r\n\r\nThese kits include storage bins, activity materials, comfort items, and essentials like tissues—all resources that may seem small, but are deeply meaningful when someone is experiencing grief, trauma, or emotional overwhelm. Having these materials on hand ensures we never have to rely on school sites to provide them, and that our team can focus solely on supporting the well-being of the school community.\r\n\r\nAlready, we've seen these kits in action. In one recent response, a team member shared how a simple activity book and set of markers helped a young student begin to process their emotions through drawing. Another shared that a soft blanket and tissues offered immediate comfort to a grieving staff member. These are the moments your support has made possible.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to continue customizing and enhancing these kits based on the diverse needs we encounter. Your investment has empowered our team to be proactive, prepared, and present in every response—and for that, we are truly grateful.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in the importance of this work and for helping us show up ready, every single time.","fullyFundedDate":1742906252748,"projectUrl":"project/care-kits-for-the-crisis-care-team/9101796/","projectTitle":"Care Kits for the Crisis Care Team","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McCarthy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1517704_orig.jpg?crop=808,808,x0,y2&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1626799561325","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/tmccarthy"},{"teacherId":4615718,"projectId":9283313,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom now has a document camera that is making a powerful difference for my reading intervention students with special needs. This tool has transformed the way I model reading and writing strategies, allowing students to clearly see step-by-step examples that support their understanding and build confidence. Even more exciting, it's giving students the opportunity to share their own work with pride—projecting their writing, explaining their thinking, and celebrating their growth in front of their peers. These moments have strengthened both academic skills and social-emotional development, helping students feel seen, capable, and proud of their progress.
