As we studied adding 3-digit numbers, they were able to move the different base 10 blocks to represent the numbers and the place value. They gained a better understanding of how the numbers represent the value they held and were able to visually see how regrouping actually changed the value of the new number. In addition, they were used with our subtraction lessons as well.\r\n We also used the base 10 blocks during small group and one-to-one instruction to assist in them gaining a better understanding of place value, regrouping and adding. Being able to use and manipulate the blocks helped those students who were struggling to gain a much better understanding.
