Their favorite tools include number paths, clothespins used with five-sticks and ten-sticks, and prongs used to create number fans.\r\n\r\nHand2Mind Math Tools Small Group Set\r\n I use this set in a small-group center to help guide and support my students.\r\nHand2Mind Number Paths (Grades K–2)\r\n These are used in small groups to support counting, addition, and subtraction.\r\nhand2mind 120-Bead Magnetic Demonstration Rekenrek (Counting Rack)\r\nThis tool is used during whole-group instruction to support counting and number sense.\r\nAFOROEOA Stainless Steel Pencil Dispenser with 50 Pencils\r\n I decorated the dispenser with the stickers provided. My students peeled the outer layer off the pencils provided, and I replaced the pencils with higher-quality ones. Now, when students need a pencil, it is easy to retrieve one for classwork and assignments.\r\nCreativity Street Bright Hue Mini Wooden Spring Clothespins\r\n These clothespins easily snapped apart and are now being used with the number rods/sticks we created.\r\nEamay Counting Caddy & Place Value Pocket Chart for Classroom and Homeschool(Black)\r\n This product cannot be used appropriately to teach/model the place value skill passed a certain number because it should clearly show that 10 ones equal 1 ten and 10 tens equal 1 hundred. Ideally, there would be 10 blue straws to match the ones cards (so students can trade them for 1 bundle of 10 yellow straws), 100 yellow straws to match the tens cards (to trade for 1 bundle of 100 green straws), and at least 100 green straws to represent a full hundred. Instead, the product includes a mixed set of 200 straws, with not nearly enough yellow or green straws to model regrouping correctly. While I appreciate the color-matching concept, the incorrect quantities limit its effectiveness. Some students use them individually to help calm themselves, while at other times they are used during small-group instruction or at the sensory table.\r\nThe hand2mind Sensory Number Trays are used in small-group lessons and in the independent learning center.\r\nThe Nicunom 125-piece Animal Erasers are kept in both the prize box and the eraser bin. They provide a physical barrier that helps minimize distractions and reduce the temptation for students to look at their peers' work. This fosters an environment of academic integrity and encourages students to rely on their own knowledge. \r\nThe additional treats and party favors have been added to our class treasure box. Students like selecting prizes from the treasure box, which is why more fidgets and prizes are needed.\r\nOver time, the treats added to the treasure box along with the presence of test dividers can help establish a culture of trust and independence, reinforcing the value of honest effort and personal achievement in the classroom.
