Many of our lessons rely on discussion, explaining thinking, and using academic vocabulary. With the microphones, students can speak clearly and confidently so everyone can hear their ideas. This is especially helpful during group discussions, lab presentations, and review activities. It allows me to better assess understanding in real time and helps students practice using precise scientific language, which is a big focus in our class.\r\n\r\n⸻\r\n\r\nWhat about the new product is most exciting to your students?\r\nStudents are genuinely excited about the opportunity to \"be heard.\" Using the microphones makes everyday activities feel more engaging and important—almost like they're scientists presenting their findings. Even routine tasks like answering questions or sharing observations feel more interactive and fun. The novelty of the microphones has also increased participation, especially during discussions and collaborative work.\r\n\r\n⸻\r\n\r\nAre there particular students who have especially warmed to this new technology, and how so?\r\nYes—students who are typically quieter or less confident with speaking have benefited the most. Some students who struggle with pronunciation or expressing their ideas are more willing to participate when using the microphone because it gives them a sense of structure and importance. I've also seen English language learners and students who need extra support with communication become more engaged, as the microphone helps ensure their voices are heard and valued. It's been really rewarding to see these students grow in confidence and take a more active role in class discussions.","fullyFundedDate":1769050844003,"projectUrl":"project/student-voice-through-audio-recording/9981673/","projectTitle":"Student Voice Through Audio Recording","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pasuit","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10396299"},{"teacherId":10347276,"projectId":9887108,"letterContent":"I am extremely grateful for your generosity. You made it possible for students to have a comfortable, cozy space in our classroom. Students like to sit in the comfy chairs or on the ball if they need to move their bodies while they read. Students also use this space to take a break when things get a bit overwhelming. Sometimes moving to another place within the classroom with something calmer to focus on will help regulate big emotions. \r\n\r\nMiddle school is hard for many students. They experience many changes during this time. Their bodies are changing, their friend groups are changing, things may be changing at home, and there is a lot going on in the world, which can be stressful for everyone, including our middle schoolers. They were so excited to see a space created just for them. They are eager to spend time in our cozy reading corner, enjoying reading in a calm, comfortable spot. This area provides a safe space where they can relax, read, and/or complete some of their work while feeling valued. \r\n\r\nIn the future, I would like to add a lamp or other ambient lighting to increase the area's appeal to students. I will also be displaying student \"book reviews\" in this space. Students can complete a book review of a book they have read, so others can get a glimpse of it and decide whether they would like to read it. This project will also help students learn that we all have different opinions and one person may love a book while another doesn't. Thank you again for helping me create a cozy space for our middle schoolers.","fullyFundedDate":1764879718411,"projectUrl":"project/cozy-reading-area-and-organization-for-a/9887108/","projectTitle":"Cozy Reading Area and Organization for a New Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harper","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10347276"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6890","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":969,"numTeachers":60,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":12,"percentWhite":69,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.9,"schoolId":6890,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Clover Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Clover Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/clover-school-district/clover-middle-school/6890"}
