We are not given a lot of opportunities to do chapter book studies as a class and these books allowed that to happen! Every kid got to pick up an actual book, read together, and experience all of the cliffhangers together which was fun to watch. I even had one student come up to me and tell me that she had her mom buy some more books from the series because she loved the book so much! Watching my students use their critical thinking skills and problem solving skills to do something as simple as a puzzle has really helped me see what types of knowledge my students have to help them apply what they have learned in my lessons to real world situations. What's cool about all of this is that these games and activities bring fun into my room! Instead of being an engrossed in a computer game, my students are now wanting to get on the carpet and work together to put together a puzzle or create a device with different STEM materials. Thank you so much for helping me bring more active learning and application in my classroom!
