My students are full of ideas and are very passionate about the things they believe. Many of them enjoy reading once we get into something in class, or when they feel confident in their ability to read it, but most of them don't feel they have time to read for fun or read what they'd like to read. Others often say they don't like to read but will readily admit they just haven't found something they like. I know there are books that they'd enjoy reading, but getting to the library (or, to be honest, remembering to turn in library books) isn't a priority for them. I think if they had books at hand, in my classroom where they are every day, they'd find themselves picking up new books to read all the time.
